    You're evil!
I was originally looking at diamond axles and multilink front and rear. Over 20K! Not going to happen anytime soon. Diesel swap will probably happen first (when engine is run into the ground, i.e. 10 more years).
I actually ran up to Issaquah on Wednesday to look at a 95 Mercedes 300d with the om606 engine. Figured I'd get it for a daily driver and down the road, try ro shoehorn the 606 (plus turbo) into the Tacoma. Unfortunately, the car needed a new upper wiring harness and was leaking diesel all over). I didn't feel like I wanted to deal with that hassle right of the bat.

Yeah I've looked into new axles, which the ruffstuff ones fully built are around $5200 for the rear and $8k for the front. When I can get a set of used axles off CL, clean them up, rebuild/build them up and not have to convert to full float for $5k-$6k, makes it hard to spend over twice that for brand new axles.
Only way ill go with a new axle is if I stay IFS up front and only get a new rear axle that has better clearance than the 14 bolts or dana 60's.

I can't really comment on the lift height because it appears you took that photo with a potato.

On CL? Didn't see them under "pinzgauer."

I have heard they are a bit finicky. Almost like 3rd gens.

Still hoping that I wake up to a M1078 for Christmas one year...

Everything is easy, yet difficult. For example, to work on the engine you take the "dog house" off (basically the big engine cover that is the center console). To do that you have to take the seats out which you need a kid to slip his hand down and undo a wing nut, really hard to get to. And finally moving the dog house out is a pain because its so big it has to go in the back. It definitely is a 2 person job. Also its a dual carb engine so thats a pain in itself.

My dad had his converted to EFI, bored out the cylinders, and something else to give it 60 more HP's by a guy in San Bernardino who knows those things like the back of his hand. Worked better but still not what I'd call reliable.

I installed this yesterday. Pretty easy, great instructions and great quality leather. Got to me really quick from
http://wheelskins.com/ $75, worth every penny. The Black is perforated and the Grey is not. I wasn't sure about the contrasting colors but I really like it now that it's installed. It feels great to have the thicker diameter wheel like the 2nd and 3rd Gen's. :)

Hey now. Jeeps are the Lego of the vehicle realm. Your imagination is the only limit.

    Besides buying new pieces.

Been there, done that. Your potato is quite nice. Many years ago I had an old Samsung flip phone that popped out of my pockets 3 times while hopping up into my old Jeep. And three times, I drove right over it. Somehow it still kept on working every time (it just needed some extra duct tape) but the hinge... well, wasn't. I think the .03MP camera actually got better :notsure:

Yes.. but you have to admit a 4 door JK is the perfect platform for rock crawling.
