    I have some minor seeping on my manual but after 1000 miles of recent road trips it doesn't appear any different.

    Problem is if you have fluid getting passed the gasket. It is becoming saturated slowly. That will lead to gasket slowly failing to do its job. Which at that time it will need to be replaced. If gasket has not failed yet. Chances it just needs torqued properly.

    I dropped my truck off an hour ago for a service and recall inspection.

    Left with a Camry loaner. We shall see how long I am driving it.

    That's my opinion... a leak is a leak and just re-torquing the bolts is not a solution. Especially if it is a heat treat issue (as someone, can't remember who, noted that was the leading theory) on the bolts allowing them to "stretch", re-torquing will only make it worse as you will only make stretch them more.

    Why not request a new gasket, fluid and hardware?

    Good idea, OP. This sucks for your guys, and it sucks that so many people seem to get different experiences on what seems to be the same issue.

    @Porter707
    :rolleyes: Nice attitudes. You both should seek counseling.

    OP, I believe you can change the options on the poll to make the voters public (show usernames for each response). If you can't change it yourself now, ask a moderator to do it, if you wish. It might prove useful in the future for communicating with folks in certain situations. And it might help those suffering from paranoia sleep a little better at night.

    I believe the law states you are entitled to be reimbursed if you had it fixed prior to recall at an independent shop.
    Cut off date is after they mail out all notices.

    Just got off the phone with them and they found no evidence of a leak. I looked yesterday and didn't see any, but wanted them to come to that conclusion on their own and have record of completing the recall.
    They re-torqued the bolts and said I am ready to go

    Just to put this out there. In my job I am required daily to determine if certain components are leaking. I have a set of VERY specific guidelines, that I have to adhere to, as to what constitutes a "LEAK". Oil has to "form a drop or drops" in a given amount of hours to be considered a leak. "If it ain't dripping, it ain't leaking". Wetting is considered normal in some systems. Id be surprised if the Toyota techs didnt have similar guidelines they have to follow.

    I'm on the recall list. I don't see any evidence of seepage. Will have them address the recall at my next service appointment.
