After testing Thule, Rocky Mounts and Yakima. Only one fit the height requirement to enable the tri-fold to close. The Yakima blockhead is the one and it happens to be on sale for only $34 each right now.

All in all the project cost around $100 for 2 bike mounts.

Currently I am using velcro and gravity to hold the back wheels. But, I plan on mounting some small D-rings when they arrive.

Same here, but im waiting until I buy out my lease (unless I get a new one).
Then im going to add some anchor points on top to haul whatever.

One thing is the tonneua will still leak like a sieve on the outside edge.

I also wonder why they didnt put another strap/buckle on the first/second section, to keep it from flying back, like they did when both sections are folded back.

Hey OP - why didn't you want to fold the cover forward snap the cover down and put the bike mounts on the btm of the tri-fold cover?? Curious as I'm thinking of how to do the same or similar.

That would work but then you loose the bed security with the closed cover.

Also you would have to reinforce the top side like I did on the bottom which might look strange when it's closed.

If you want to mount the bike with the cover open I would suggest just removing the cover and attaching a bike mount to the head rail system underneath.

These oem tonneaus aren't very secure to begin with. All it takes is someone with a coat hanger/slim jim to pull back on the release handle and they're in. I wish it had a lock to them.

Good point... I have a rail for the front of the bed from 2nd gens and was going to go that route but taking the cover off every time I wanna go bike riding prolly not in the cards... too much work.

I have a VooDoo bed rack that's short that would work for sure or do like you did... that's a pretty good option you have there considering our options.

@KB Voodoo Don't you make a bike mount that hangs the bike off the side of the the bed?

Looking for something that works with my bed rack and I don't need to pull the front wheel to mount the bike.
