TRD: CAI, CAT Back, Doug Thorley Longtubes, URD: Y-Pipe, MAF CAL, SS. APR T-Stat(uninstalled) Bilstein 5100(4) eibach toytec coilover. Rear suspension TSB.
I took my 07 off road in to have a cv boot repaired. I have 47,000 on the odo so it was covered under the 60k mile powertrain warranty. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned it would be covered. I felt Toyota would complain about my toytec coilover lift. and deny me. They didn't mention it and I was stoked. The warranty work did come at a price.

I watched as a tech drove my vehicle off for what I presumed to be "test drive." Yeah right!!! I'm pretty sure the driver got to the rev limiter since my scangauge reported 5563 rpm on my 32" toyo mt's. There wasn't any evidence of the tech roasting my brand new tires though. I checked, cause I was already expecting the worse after the scangauge readout. I did get effing pissed off. I did walk back to the service department and I did nut up. I announced, loudly, that I didn't appreciate my tech's driving. I mentioned the scangauge too.

My customer service rep. came out into the garage. Don't know if he heard me bitching- I showed him the problem(see pic). Realizing that there was nothing he could do, I just boned out. This is why I do my own work. Its a trust issue I have with knuckleheads in the world. Never again.

In my final analysis, I will continue to take my truck in for warranty type service, like the aforementioned. But, in the future i will have special instructions for Toyota: No one drives my truck off the lot except me.

Good thing you had the scangauge. Either he was being sweet and red linning your truck or he couldn't drive stick.

That sucks - you never know what they're going to do to your baby once she rounds the corner and out of sight.

Next time, tell the technician that you have a dashcam as well as a scanguage. Or perhaps you should just go along for the "test-drive".

Why do those nitwits at the stealership allways think it's funtime when they see a nice ride rollup? Glad you got caught them with there hand in the cookie jar!

If your anal like me you can tell when they have been where they shouldn't have.

The dealership owner needs to know about this kind of stuff. If I was the owner - I need to know about this crap for insurance reasons , and if someone complains in the future I would need to know that the tech was a repeat offender to fire him. Economy is bad you can get Master mechanics anywhere ...

actually, the tech did you a favor. I assume u have an auto?
You just got a cv boot replaced. They wanted to make sure it holds up to normal operations.

    You dont?

It's called stomping on the gas to merge. To pass. To hear the engine. The redline is there to prevent damage.

I NEVER redline my Taco. Not to merge or pass or anything.

    Ok gramps.

To me, it's like saying you never activate the 4x4 when you have a 4x4 truck.

you're probably one of those people who create traffic jams by merging 15mph under what everybody else is going.
