Today I got in my Tacoma and noticed that the back seat was wet. It has been raining for the last day. With closer inspection I noticed water damage on the ceiling of the cab towards the rear window. The water damage runs across the length of the back window. Any ideas where this leak could be based on the pictures? Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have a service appointment to drop off the vehicle next week as the dealership is booked out. I put a bucket of damp rid in the cab. I am thinking my warranty will cover as the truck only has 13,900 miles on it.

No sunroof so maybe the break light? Toyota needs to fix it and repair under warranty. Including the water damaged parts! No excuse!

Man that's awful. Sorry to hear about this but with the other quality issues we've been seeing I'm not too surprised.

It's the 3rd brake light. Apparently there is an issue w/ the seal, the gasket can get crushed somehow on install.

Not a large enough sample of people have had this issue so there is no other info on trim level, place of manufacture, anything like that to point in the right direction, although I will say I have only seen Double Cab people have this issue so far (unless I missed one).

This one is sure to spawn a TSB as soon as Toyota figures out a fix. There is NO way a dealer can claim "characteristic" so bring it to the dealer, make them warranty it, push for replacement of ANYTHING with a stain and then some.

As I've said in a different thread- Toyota can't fix what it doesn't hear about, so make sure they hear about it!

Man the thing that really sucks is those interiors are pretty tough to tear out and put back together as well as they came from initial assembly. Hopefully they can just replace the seats. If they have to rip up the carpet maybe you can get them to throw in some more sound deadening material to lessen the road noise.

Not if you're careful. I've had my Access cab pretty well torn apart (dash, access door card, cab rear panel) and everything went back together just fine. It takes some patience and finesse though. Only slightly marred one clip on a large piece.

I guess it is fair to say that your average tech is going to follow the "step 1: shatter all of the retaining clips with a single harambe-strength pull" method though.

That makes me wonder if we have the leak narrowed down to the 3rd brake light housing or gasket, is that going to be a potential for all of them to leak at some point down the road.

I just noticed my 2016 DCSB is leaking above the rear window inside. I am extremely disappointed to have my brand new truck leaking at only 8,000 miles. Especially for what they charge for these things. Not sure where it's coming from can anyone help me. Hoping it's just an easy fix like rear break light gasket seal.

Can anyone that has dealt with this let me know what the end result was? Judd2112? I am dealing with this right now with my 2017 Trd sport and just wondering what to expect.

    Thanks

Damn that sucks... Obviously something went wrong during the install of the light. Toyota will cover it.

Happened to me yesterday. Brought truck in to dealership today and told me that the third brake light is leaking. This must be a common problem because the lights are on back order.
