For those whose trucks are on the recall list but are not leaking, wouldn't it be advisable to take it in anyway so that the recall/TSB is documented as having been performed on your truck?

The SA called me again, and Toyota says to keep my truck until they 'figure out a fix' verbatim his words.

I thought the recall document says the fix was replacing the gasket and that was that? He could not answer that. He says that they already have the parts at hand.

I kindly asked him if I could just take my truck back until they figured out what they need to figure out and, he flat out refused.

As of right now, the dealer is holding my truck hostage with no ETA on the fix.

Just unboxed it. Much to come.
Called about mine today... My truck was built in Feb 2017 and I got it in early april. When I called they said it was a tightening/check of the bolt for leaks. They said no appointment needed. Took it in and got it back in 30 min. Done. Should I have asked something about tranny fluid ?

So there were a few parts to the deal if you're on the recall list right??

1.) No leak = re torque...good to go.
2.) Leak with no additional damage = seal and attach hardware change, fluid service, torque...good to go.
3.) Leak with additional findings (damage) = carrier, seal, attach hardware, fluid service, torque...good to go.

Unless I'm not understanding the recall, it would seem they either don't know what they're doing OR they don't have whatever parts need OR they found additional damage.

That's why i'm confused. I am part of the recall, as when I was dropping off my truck for the oil change, the SA noted it on his computer.

I kept asking what kind of leak do I have, and didn't get anything definitive other than 'some weeping'

I said great!, please replace the diff gasket as advised on the recall notice, and let me get on my way. They said it doesn't work this way, and that gasket is not the fix, and that they need some more confirmation from Toyota.

At this point, he gave me NO ETA on what they will be doing with my truck.

This kinda makes me wonder what else might be going on that hasn't been released to the public yet.

Just be prepared for it to happen. I certainly didn't think of it when I dropped off my truck for a routine oil change.

I hope mine don't start leaking. I may go by there Saturday. So far no leaks.

Again, I would be fine if I was in any of those situations.

At this point, all they have told me was, "yes we noticed some weeping" No we, don't know what the fix is, no we don't know what time frame it will be.

And best of all. No you can't have your truck back until we figure this out.
