If that's the case i'd gladly pay for a tow to another dealer. The whole. We don't know game is pretty annoying.

Wait, wait wait.... The dealership has your truck and refuses to give it back??? Fuck that! That shit would not fly in Texas.

    1) Say give me my truck back now mother fucker, it's mine!!! Start throwing shit everywhere, make them call the cops... See #3.

    2) Go grab your extra eye and take your truck back... Leave the rental in it's spot, call them after the fact to let them know and tell them they can have their set of keys when you get yours back.

    3) Call the PoPo and tell them your truck is stolen and being held against your wishes, and you know exactly where it is.

I would reach out to the regional Toyota corp manager and express your concern. Otherwise Toyota has no way to know how the dealerships are fullfilling the recall obligations.

This recall should be simple but who knows.

Bad heat treatment means non-tempered steel?

Any word out there if this is limited to the new larger differentials, mine on my limited is the same one they used for years without a problem, haven't crawled under to see but last time I did I was dry.

Check this out, a guy replacing the gears in his Tacoma differential, it is quite a bit of work to just change the gasket. Not hard. But looks like Toyota has to come up with a work instruction on how to do this for the techs.

    I'm thinking Toyota already has a procedure to R & R a rear differential.
