Alright so I just called the Tech that aligned the truck for me and he informed me that you have to increase negative camber to compensate for a lifted truck, so the tires will wear evenly... This is the first I'm hearing of this, and I can't make sense of this rational. Is there any weight to this or do I need to find another place to get my alignment done?

I don't know what my specs were, but both mine and my buddies lifted 4Runner had a touch of negative camber. I think I may have heard that before, but not sure if it's accurate.

He's actually intelligent. Once you lift with stock geometry points you want a lot more caster to help with tracking and return to center. The extra negative camber helps with daily driving but can wear the insides of the tires out in Bay Area traffic. To be honest your tech is a baller. But I would still bring down the camber a bit unless you are constantly in the twisties.

Yeah I've read about adding neg caster to aid in return to start with lifted vehicles, but other than hard cornering I can't find a benefit of adding negative camber. (DON'T BAN ME I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A DICK, I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND) From what I read it only helps with tire wear for those smashing on turns (since I misplaced my sway bar, I can't do that anymore) and since I just invested a small fortune (to me anyways) in tires I don't want my investment to wear prematurely (again please don't ban me).

Getting a little more stable. Need to ditch the flux core and get some gas. Overall I'm happy with the progress over the last day. Just going to keep practicing laying beads. 20170501_174147.jpg

hmmm.... maybe he noticed I was missing a sway bar and wanted to make it harder for me to roll over? Does added negative camber aid in compensating for body roll?

Fremont Alignment on Albrae St. Dudes name is Michael ((510) 304-0890) and seems like a really cool guy. Had me in and out in 20 min, and for a fair price. Whether or not he has good quality work I'm still trying to understand.

Been looking at welders myself, thought about getting one to run off 110v. But now I'm thinking about getting one to run off 220v and get a longer cord to run from my dryer around the corner. I miss welding, definitely a fun hobby to have.

I thought about that too, but I don't think I need that much power quite yet.

If you don't mind, can you take pics of your front and rear alignment eccentrics?

I want to show the pics to my alignment place after they pull their heads out of their asses. I've been around 0.0° caster for the last 3 alignments. I pickup my truck after hours and never get to talk about it with them.

On the lower control arm? Sure, but to be fair I should mention I have TC uniballs, I'm pretty sure they add neg caster.
