So on the awning. Would you say you reccomend it or no?

 

For the price yes, but expect to play around with it a bit.

 

Cool. Honestly, if it can hold up to some wind and will function alright, it's worth the low price.

 

It's probably best used for shade only.

 

Long shot, but do you think it would be possible to increase the width 4-6" ? From the photos it looks like it could be a tiny bit wider without becoming cumbersome. Or is it limited by something like not being able to source a wider seamless piece of material for the roof?

 

Anything is possible on the hard end of things. The fabric becomes the issue since some standardization needs to happen. Otherwise each piece of fabric needs to be engineered for each camper.

Since the whole tent will flop into the middle when down, the extension may need to be deployed to hold it up. Also means you can go with the plush mattress...

 

Really cool build you guys. If ya'll can keep it to $6500 or less, I really think you'll have a habitat beater

Well, today didn't go as well as I planned. I seriously underestimated the fabric. It's huge and heavy and really hard to get everything to feed straight because I'm constantly fighting it.

I'm going to have to redo everything I did today, but if I can devote Saturday to the project I can wrap it up this weekend.

I test fitted what I had done so far and the concept works! I just need to start over and clean it up.

 

Have you thought about sewing some tabs on to it like RTT's to throw some bungies on it to pull the fabric in during take down?

 

Iggy has some shock cord. Also the fan will suck in the sides when it's in reverse. The shock cord will assist. The 4wc has shock cord running attached to the inside walls that gets disconnected when camping.
