best way to lower a 4x4

    I wanted to lower my 4x4 a bit right now I have an add a leaf and a spacer to get 2 inch height, but I am liking the look of a lower truck...from what i understand is, i will get better handling on the road (where 90% of my driving is) and better MPG.


    I have seen some 1 st gen 4x4s that are lower and they seem to be stock (not sure why mine was made higher), the only way i can think of to lower my truck by four-five inches is by removing my 2 inch lift and then running my leaf springs under the axle and cutting my front springs..


    Is there a lowering kit for the 4x4 or some DIY mod?

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    it would be less hassle to regear your diffs to spare your MPG...

    to alter your suspension could impact the ride unless you got deep enough pockets to deal with the cost to do it right...

    What size tires do you have? If they are larger than stock, returning them to stock size along with better driving habits are going to improve your MPG much more than lowering the truck. Like what was said above, if you must lower, do it right.

    i think the chevy colorado comes really close to the ground, and with a sweet fuel sipping five cylinder engine..

    as of this year, you can also get a colorado with the 5.3 V8.

    i'd buy one if chevy would get away from using the damn outdated torsion bars ....a good coilover would be better.

    I wouldnt go any lower then stock! And then get some stock size tires, and then If you want better handeling then get some new sway bar bushings, and maybe op- for a rear sway bar as well..... But PLEASE! dont go any lower then stock hight. Its a Freakin 4x4 Tacoma for goonis sakes!:(

    Whats your mpg's now? and what size tires are you runnin?

    well. at least he can lock it in, to pull himself of the curbs and speedbumps he's about to get stuck on..
