The rule in my fam is guns never leave, they're always passed down. We have shotguns and rifles that shift back and forth between cousins and nieces and nephews. It's nice. With the gun, you get stories and cherished memories. We have guns going back as far as my great-great-grandfather.

My first firearm, paid for by me at 18.
    H&R 9 shot 22 revolver with a 5.5 Or 6 inch barrel.

Bought it for $65.00 back when you just bought a gun. No paperwork or any of that.
Hard times a few years later, sold it for $130.00.

    Been sorry ever since.

Looking for one now that won't break the bank n can be boughht in my state.

H&K model 999 Sportsman 22 revolver. Almost 40 years later (and too many guns to count), I still own it and shoot it. Cannot say that about many of the guns I have purchased over the years. Fun gun.

Got it after I started shooting with a buddy on his horse ranch. That was the Big 5 days $89.99, (Stupid good rifle for that price) never fired and soaked in cosmoline and came with all the stock stuff they give you in Russia when you run into battle and they say "When he dies pick up gun and fight." Took me about a month to strip it and polish it up. Still miss that gun, traded up for a Marlin XL7 30-06 I could get a decent scope on.

Glock 19c for me. Went to the gun shop looking for a regular 19, but they were out. Sales guy convinced me at the time that fire coming out of the top of the barrel would be really cool. WRONG. It shot well enough, but was blinding at night & a pain in the butt to clean. Sold it and eventually bought a regular Glock 19 among several others.

When I turned 10, my dad bought me a Remington Model 521-T .22 target rifle. It had Lyman peep sights and a military type leather sling. I still have it to this day (52 years later). I just wish I had taken better care of it.

    Stock and staying that way
Marlin Model 60 when I was 15. My mom was not pleased (dad bought it for me, they were divorced) and I later sold it to help fund my first car.

H&R single shot 20 gauge when I was 10. My dad cut the stock so i could shoulder it. It kicked hard as hell and was very heavy for a 10 yr old, but i shot it as much as I could. I ended up cutting the stock down to more of a pistol grip when i was in high school and it was eventually stolen.
