You have an IGA up there anywhere? They seem to have consistently lower prices on butts than the normal grocery.

Thanks. The loins I see here are the diameter of Pork chops, the length of my arm, and have a nice fat cap. We slice them up for pork chops and crock pot pulled pork.
Yea, we're just on the edge of the country. Lots of IGA around within a few-10 min drive.

I've had a gas grill since my wife and I got married 11 years ago. Recently I've wanted to get a charcoal grill so when I mentioned it to her, she doesn't understand why I need two grills. She said that charcoal is a whole lot more messy too. Not sure where to go from here.........

Work the smoker angle, a smoker is NOT a grill, although some types can be used for both.

Feed her something off a charcoal grill or a smoker and the same thing off the gas grill. Should solve the debate for you.

If that fails there is that old saying: Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission

tell her you can make bbq with a smoker... if all else fails you can just make a po-man trash can set up for cheap to whet her appetite, then when she likes the food push for a nicer setup.

@wilcam47 I did up another batch, this time I used about 5.5 tbsp of lard and also used the food processor to make it a granular consistency prior to adding water. They turned out awesome! Thanks for the tips!

:cheers:Yep looks good! I think your other batch was just over mixed, the machine made more gluten stick together.

Ive tried it with coconut oil/grease and it also works decent, it has a faint coconut smell when cooking but once they are done you cant really taste the difference. Only bad thing is you get spoiled on the homemade ones :)

Looks like I will have to make some of these this week. Have the recipe saved on my machine lol. Need to get some lard from the store when I'm up there. Got some chicken I need to cook up so figured we could do some chicken fajitas and home made tortillas. :bananadance:
