"An hour before", eh? Ouch... sounds a little like a sales pitch to me... maybe the 1st guy started reading 3rd gen forums! Prolly more likely.

The locked trunk/glovebox are still common with the "valet key" but now there are are some higher performance cars that when put in valet mode, or the valet key is used do have a speed limiter, usually 25-30mph and when its set back to normal mode by the owner it will let the owner know the limit was reached/the valet tried to go over the limit. As someone that was a valet in college, I can personally attest to this haha.

No not yet, I do need to get on the roof with a can of roofing tar.... much better terpine profile than paint.

I'm pretty sure it's a tracking device used by Trump since you voted for the other one. Don't look in your rear view mirror right now, that grey car is still following you.

I told you not to look. Better give it gas now and get out of there. Turn right into the next driveway and pull into that vacant garage.

It's all good, you got the truck you wanted that's all that counts in the end......

However, that kind of sales pitch makes me wanna take a shower.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those disabler gizmos. Don't pay the loan or payment, disabled and the light comes on.

I read through this thread and I still don't understand what this thing is? I've had one on mine since 07 and if you look at my thread I did on my spliced wiring, it doesn't look like it was factory: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-my-truck-cheap-out-on-certain-things.483750/
Same thing is on post #42, that's the one in my truck. All I know is, when it's unplugged, my doors lock after 10 or 15 mph which is something I want, if I plug it back in, it literally does nothing. Just to make sure, when you lock a Tacoma, all you get is a light indication from front and rear lights or are we supposed to get a beep or honk too?

Interesting concept.... my truck auto locks itself even with the keys in the truck not in the ignition after say 10 minutes. I don't have that light or keyless entry.

Confused by that, first I'm not up to speed with what gen you have or what joke you're trying to make..., i'm guessing 3rd by your profile photo. Second, if your vehicle locks the doors after 10 min with the keys inside, that sounds more like a call to AAA then anything else...

I can't speak to the earlier years, but on my '15 it also beeped when I locked/unlocked.

Its definitely a aftermarket alarm installed by the dealer, not factory as I am told on here :). And points to being a valet mode button. I know it has to do with an alarm because I bought it hahahahaha. Sitting signing papers the finance guys was like do you want an alarm for $500 and I was just whatever because it rolled into the loan so was nothing really added to the payment. In hindsight should have just bought an aftermarket and installed it. It blinks blue when I turn the alarm on.

My lights flashed and honked(you might be able to disable the honk/beep). My doors always locked after a few seconds. Seems like a shoddy installation job.

I hate it though because I can't uninstall it without having to tape up every wire that it taps into... and that's shitty mine doesn't beep.

My car would lock itself within 20 seconds if you didn't open a door when unlocking but obiously you had your doors open so that is strange.

No, that was directed at bobrown in regards to his truck locking on its own.
