    wipe some with your finger and stick it in a nostril and take a big sniff. Gear oil has a very distinctive smell that is nothing like motor oil.

    did that, it readlly didnt have any smell. just smelled like wet metal. did not smell like gear oil or motor oil. but, it is for sure some sort of oil since it didnt dry up

    The diff "fluid" is 100% synthetic, doesn't smell like traditional dino gear lube does. Much more mild flavor too... can't use it for aftershave like the old stuff.. the synthetic washes off too easily.

    Yeah I have been told this is normal when I took it in back in Feb for the seepage then I took it back and its still normal b/c I'm an offroad but have all the same issues as the recall.

    Agreed. Sounds like the dealer meant to say "all REAR differentials" or just an idiot service advisor (I've met a few).

    Not sure why anyone would, but I did make a post in the Diff Howling Thread a few days (week?) ago mentioning that I'm occasionally hearing some kind of howling-like noise (that is not the rear diff) that seems to be coming from the front. Might be related, might not be, might be just my imagination.
