Dang man, now I guess they'll lock this thread....We also had a thread celebrating Smitty this weekend and we were all just having some fun with it and I woke up the next morning and, poof, it was like it never happened. No sign of that thread anywhere. Every comment gone.

Great post. I love my 2005 Tacoma OR, and have been pretty high on Toyota until the 3rd gen Tacoma. The issues aren't just on this forum. The service guys at the dealer report they hear these same issues every day.
I also think the Chevy Colorado has done some of the small things better than the Tacoma. There are a lot of little features mentioned on this forum where people say things like "do your really pick a truck based on the sunglass holder?" I don't, but there are 5 or six of these things that I think Toyota has screwed up, and when you add them up, it starts making me wonder how many things I want to "live with", just to drive a Tacoma.
I'm waiting to see if they fix some of them on 2018. If not, it might be time to try one of the twins.

I did enjoy my previous push start where I could start it in the winter, keep the keys in my pockets and lock it to warm up the car in the winter. That's probably the only reason I miss the push start

The mods will delete or at least shut down any thread that will turn into too much of a trollfest or it if will incite too much bickering.

Trading a Third Gen in for another type or make of vehicle seems to fit this category as does any thread dedicated to yours truly :D Can't say I blame them. Things can get out of hand quickly.

I have a 2016 trd off road with the Manual Transmission. I like the truck overall but I don't love it.

    Pros:
    - absolutely excellent in all weather especially the snow.
    - perfect size for my needs
    - looks are awesome it has an aggressive stance
    - ride quality on and off road is excellent in my opinion.
    - great off-road

    Cons:
    - the seats are almost unbearable for long trips.
    - the headlights border on dangerous in their lack of illumination (I've replaced them on a brand new truck)
    - rear diff howls (temporarily "fixed" by adding a loud exhaust)
    - hood vibrates from wind
    - truck is underpowered compared to my 2015.
    - gas mileage in real world use is only about 1 mpg better than that of my 2015.
    - lack of clips to hold passenger floor mat, annoying considering the 2015 had them.
-entune infotainment is the biggest piece of crap ever developed absolutely worthless and the navigation is notoriously inaccurate.
-overall fit and finish just seems cheap cost cutting at its finest I guess.

In all honesty I would not buy the truck again given the choice. I really do hate saying that. For me it comes down to the seats and the engine. If those two were better I'd love the truck.

I have 42,000 miles on it so far and I have had the following things replaced.

    - Leaf springs replaced
    - rear cab light replaced due to leak
    - windshield washer sprayers replaced due to incorrect angle sprayers installed.

The following are issues I've have but that I was not able to replicate at the dealer.

    - Speedometer hanging
    - trip meter resetting
    - rear locker not always locking in unless I turn off and restart the truck, same with disengagement.
    - clutch pedal squeaking
    - entune locking up
    - dash and headlights dim when applying the brakes.
    - blower motor makes squeaking noise at low settings.

None of these are to big of a deal to me. Toyota has been great about fixing what is needed. I love them as a company and I have an excellent dealership, they just came up a bit short on what could have been a great truck. I really want to love this truck. Hopefully in the future they come out with a more powerful engine and better seats until they do I'm looking at the New F150s with the V8. It won't match the off-road capabilities of a Tacoma but for what I do it seems like it meets my needs better.

    good info.
but i must add that i also hated the seats. my right leg went numb consistently after 90 minutes, which is frequent for my drives. so i went to an upholstery shop and had them carve out the seat foam, create a bucket, drop the seating position, and support my legs well. $200. it's now the most comfortable seat i own, and i can drive for literally hours with zero discomfort from the seat.

not really. the drivers side seat i did looks more puffy and less flat than the pass side. after carving out excess foam they refill it with light soft foam to take up the slack in the leather, so that's the puff, but it's not much. don't think a pic would compel you.

meh... i went ahead and snapped a couple to let the pics speak for themselves.

This place will make you paranoid if you let it.

25,000 miles and I'm pretty happy with my truck. Kinda wished I bought an OR instead of the SR5. If I sell it in a year or two, I'll probably replace it with the same truck in OR configuration.... if I can get it without any packages other than tow.

I do have an appointment for the rear diff leak recall on Friday. It ain't leaking though.

No regrets so far, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. At 20k on the clock, my only concern has been the CPS sensor, but its changed now, so far so good.

    Cheers!

Man, I agree. I'm already getting amped up over my rear diff and that is the only issue I've had. I may need a TW timeout sooner than later. If I start hearing voices after reading these posts I'm out of this place!

I've had a few of the more common issues with mine but I don't regret the purchase at all. I think that even though I have had issues, the dealership I've been working with has been amazing in resolving those issues with zero hassle so it's helped make the issues easier to deal with having. There are no perfect cars, even right off the lot but the issues you run into can certainly be amplified if your dealer is a jackass and it can make you dislike or even hate your vehicle...even regret buying it.
