Oh you are probably right.. toyota looked at the issue and said, you know, rear diffs are going to blow, people might die.. let's hold off until June/July to start sending notices.. maybe we can rack up some wrongful death lawsuits.. sounds logical.

that was aimed at what the 'dealer' would do. I don't fix anything
myself that falls under a warranty or especially a recall.

So what do you do if you've got a 15K service coming up...skip it until June? I don't think so...

Rub a bunch of dirt on your diff to hide the leak.

On second thought, dont' bother - they probably wont notice it anyway.

    Son of a....

I was just going to bring it in for the first oil change. I'd be making a huge stink if they told me 'sorry you can't have your truck back'. Excuse me? Who the hell are you? Can't have my truck back? It's either that or the money I gave you for it...

I just called my dealer. I bought my Taco about 90 miles away but have a local dealer (with a horrible service department) nearby. So I talked to the service manager and I swear this guy seemed like he was doing everything he could to get me to take my truck somewhere else. He ran my VIN and I'm not on the recall. I also told him I have zero leaks but explained the howling to him and he was doing somersaults to encourage me to take it to a more "convenient" dealer. What the crap? I told him I bought my truck there and don't want a runaround from my local dealer and he said he'd be glad to look at it (it was clear he didn't mean it) but still rambled like crazy. It's obvious for some reason he does not want to fool with this. I may reluctantly try my local dealer but if no luck I'm taking it to the dealer where I got the truck. I somehow wonder if by what I described he knew he would have to keep my truck too? This SUCKS.
