I have a buddy at Toyota Corporate and he said they have started distributing these with the regasket parts kit for the recall to ensure customer courtesy and interim transportation...

BBLLLHAHAHHAHA.... The last couple of pages of this thread are pure gold!!!

My original point was more/less, it's my property, you're not going to tell me what to do with my property, and you're sure the shit not going to keep my property from me. And if you try, you better prepare for the fucking wrath of God!
I don't know maybe it's a Texas thing... We take personal/private property rights pretty seriously.
Also, if I've been driving this truck for 14,000 miles + and haven't had any major rear end issues, why wouldn't I be able to drive it for another 2 months?? And if it is that serious of a issue where they're worried about my saftey and the saftey of others, and by extension their liability, then why the hell are you waiting 2 months to fix it?!?!

On a curious side note, I have a Off-Road, which we all know is not on the recall list... yet. If I took it in for my 15k service (which I'm only 600 miles away from) and told them I see rear diff leakage, and want it fixed. They can't hold it via the recall, because technically it doesn't apply to my VIN, but they'd still have to fix it via my warranty... I mean a leaky rear diff... That shit aint normal. So could I get a potential fix now, as opposed to latter.... Hummm.

Isn't that the bug in the weather app that makes it crash? The firmware (not software) update fixed mine for me.

No clue. I'd rather not have them tear my dash apart, they offered to replace the head unit. No thanks, not for now.

I think you'll be good after the firmware update. Thread below. You can put the file on a USB and do it in 10 minutes, or your dealership should be able to do it.

@Elvis765 I am INTIMATELY familiar with the interior design and features of my local Toyota Service Department. Everybody there pretty much knows me on a first name basis. We smile and exchange good mornings as I walk down the hall.

Some days when I walk in, I feel like I should be clocking in for work. I try to get there by 7am, that's when the donuts are freshest.

I was told by the Service Manager that they will be ordering the parts based on VIN. He said when the vehicle comes in then they will order the part for my specific truck. They will individually order parts in for each truck that comes in. I figure this has something to do with saving money but not sure. You think it would be easier just to have a stash of gaskets sent in to the dealerships. How could a 3.5 hour repair take 3 months?

They (Toyota) has not developed the approved process or procedure yet is what I am told based on other "Hot Threads" ongoing right now.

Make sure to take your extra key with you, give them the spare, and when they won't give it back, say ok no problem... Then wave at the service guy as you drive out of the service area in your own vehicle.

Actually that would be kind of funny... In a couple months when they go looking for your truck to finally fix it, and they can't find it, but still have the keys... Be like wtf do you mean you can't find it?!?! Guess you had better be getting a new 2018 ready for me then!
