Got my tailgate letters in last night and plastidipped the dealer license plate frame to get a little practice with it before attempting badges and grill

Good idea on the frame, I found some plasti dip that's close to inferno color, I may try it.

Well I did some test driving today. I was all set on the TRD Sport. Now I'm having second thoughts. I kinda liked the SR5.

I liked the SR5 as it seemed to have slightly better visibility for a shorter person. Didn't seem to be a way to raise the seat in either model. Dealer couldn't figure it out either so I assume it doesn't raise.

What I liked about the SR5: visibility, grill (although I know grills can be changed), and it was comfortable getting in and out of because its lower than the Sport. Hate the chrome bumpers.

What I liked about the Sport: the outlet in the bed was nice, color matched rear bumpers. The visibility wasn't all that different since it's taller so now I don't know what I want.

Does anyone use their bed outlet? What can be done to the ugly chrome rear bumpers? Or what did you like more in one model v. another?

The chrome bumpers (as opposed to color matched) is the Premium & Tech package. I don't know if that's available on SR5. P&T gets the color matched bumper caps.

On the off road yes, all trd sports get colour matched rear bumpers, all sr5's I believe are Chrome. (Just to confuse people all dc trd off roads in Canada have colour matched rear bumpers and AC off roads are all Chrome )

The visibility, or lack of in the sport, is likely due to the hood scoop.

No Tacoma's have height adjustable seats, or power seats for that matter. You sit down in a Tacoma and if you're shorter it's kinda a pain (wife tells me)

For my money I'd get a trd.

People tend to hate on the chrome bumper but I think it looks great on my SR5. I prefer the appeal of the hood scoop on the TRD, but I can live without it. Hate the grill on the Sport. I could care less about a bed outlet...comes down to what you use your truck for. I've got a bed light in mine and no need for it at all. I chose the SR5 for the price and overall appearance. Mine is used primarily for the highway but still looks beefier with the Maverick rims and Nitto tires.

Ok, I am confused. Does the TRD Off Road come standard with black fenders and color matched rear bumpers instead of chrome?

All Off Roads have black fenders. Chrome bumpers are standard on the Off Road, if you add the prem & tech package you get the color-matched bumper.

I believe the reason for color matched and not chrome in the OR trim with the prem&tech package is that the radar (sonar?) can't shoot through the chrome bumper for the rear parking signal and rear cross traffic alert (when backing out of a parking spot).

If you live in the USA then listen to what the others are saying. Canada all double cab off roads get colour matched bumpers. Access cabs get Chrome. If not in Canada, then disregard.

Trd off roads and trd pros get raw plastic (black) fender flares. Sr5's and trd sports get body coloured fender flares.
