There are some people you'd just never want to buy a used car from. Any amount of leaking/seeping/weeping is not acceptable to me. My previous vehicle was a 20 year old XJ that was bone dry underneath, because I fixed every small "seep" before it turned into a gusher.

Exactly. I saw the comparison being made to Harley Davidson and their leaking/weeping/seeping issues. Not something I'd like to compare my "uber reliable" 3rd gen Tacoma to...a Harley

Let's see, comparing a Harley Davidson motorcycle's well known problem with a Toyota truck. Can we possibly make it any more serious hum

Toyota Offered to go down the buy back process but when I pushed it, it seemed like I'd have to go down the path of hiring Lawyers and was in the process of getting married, changing jobs, etc. Wife was at wits-end already with me having gone through two vehicles in the past 3 years. I had 4 vehicles at one time when we first met and was trying to sell and trade here & there. She lost her cool with it.

Had my truck in this morning for service, I pointed out that my rear end was weeping around the third member and axel flanges. They said they inspected and retorked all the bolts but my truck was not one of the ones in the recall.

All the haters need to read this. Smitty is pretty damn level headed and from what I can tell pretty intelligent.

If you hate because he is bashing his truck, you gotta understand, that for Toyota or any manufacturer, to make a quality product you have to give them feedback on the good and the bad. The bad is way more important.

I remember watching one of his videos early one in regards to the loose underbody plastic by the rear axle. I had just gotten my truck and in that honeymoon phase, so I--like many others, disregarded his complaint as just being nit picky.

But over the year of owning the truck, and really getting into it, I realize, there is really no reason for that panel to flop around like that, other than maybe lazy engineering. But if I give feedback, as with many others, maybe Toyota will realize that's not OK and reflects on the overall quality of the truck.

Just went and looked at my 16' OR with 6k miles...weeping for sure, haven't bothered to check to see if mines on the recall list or not. I'm sure it will be in time. With that being said I'm not going in to do anything about it until I get a letter and they get their shit figured out.
