Put a condom on it. It will decrease the friction and reduce the risk of premature... ehh seat wear.

...the seat adjuster knob does a great job on the fabric too. As your butt slides in and out on the side bolster of the seat bottom.

We've/I've seen this on other Toyota's as well, mostly the FJ Cruiser which has horrible material and wears easily. Also, the guys who have lift kits and no boards will really tear the hell out of seats in no time. As others have mentioned, I'd recommend a good seat cover if you ever have it replaced.

Not to be mean but are you on the bigger side? I haven't had any issues and I usually wear jeans or Carhartt pants to and from work. I don't have any wear that I can see on any part of the seat thus far.

Fwiw I'm in and out of my work truck constantly and they all wore through or close to it. Just not as soon.

I realize this is a 3rd Gen, but then again, this is why I never ever slide out of my car, I more or less kind of hop out lol sounds funny, but hey, my 2012 has lasted me this long without any real wear on the seat.

I was going to look into carhartt seat covers but I can't imagine getting in and out with those rubbing up against the seat upholstery would do much better for wear & tear.

My thoughts exactly. Had them in my cart from autoanything and removed them for that reason.

eBay, I picked up another full set of factory OEM "new" take offs for $150 shipped. I know I'll tear or damage them eventually.
Not an easy slip on though. Full replacement.

This is why I put seat covers on all my vehicles from day one. Never have to ever worry about this stuff.

+1, I'm pretty rough on my '10, but after 7 years and 160k the synthetic mouse fur has not worn out a bit.

Specifically because of bolster wear I grab the A-post handle, left foot on the running board, and lift myself up and out--getting in is the opposite. FWIW my observation over the years has been that leather does not really hold up any better than cloth for those who are hard core "butt-sliders"...

I have wondered for years what they were made of!
