This was a good write up considering the OPs experience. I think if I ever get to the point where I have room for a spare vehicle to have fun with, I think I might get a raptor.

Remarkably often. They break shit and have a way of finding mud where there shouldn't be any.

pkolanko, that was a very good Motivational Thread, Loved it! I owned many of cars but not has many has you and they do have pos and neg. I owned a 06 Tacoma back in 2010, loved that truck, had the K&N cold air induction and it could haul whatever I needed. But since getting rid of the truck for multiple cars I bought a 2016 Tacoma XP package. I also was like you about the transmission, pwr but not the seats, seats were comfortable to me. After about 3-4 wks of having the truck, I do think it does adapt to a persons driving, it is my daily commute to work and I did expect to get that good of mpg, but I'm satisfied with the 20.6 I get, which I do think the sticker said 17 city and 20 hwy. This truck is a keeper which it got a workout this past weekend of hauling multiple bags of rubber mulch. It's a keeper!

Not sure why someone would offer you some great deal on a Raptor? I did a nationwide search for 2014-2018 and got 984 matches.

Sooo... 5 separate model years over 50 states and you think 984 matches shows that there is a huge supply of used raptors...lol. It actually shows there is very limited supply!

So do a lot of vehicles have recalls? Yes. But the vast majority of recalls are minor things like a seat belt release spring or something tiny and random that manufacturers want to fix in order to prevent 1 random car from having an issue and suing the crap out of the manufacturer. A recall for a transmission that has ongoing issues 2 years later and a oil leak that causes differentials to have catastrophic failures is a little bit more on the serious side. And what was their last big issue? Rusty frames.

Am I here to hate on Tacomas? No. I like them for the most part. But I don't get how so many people just blatantly dismiss or ignore serious issues like these. Of course they're "reliable" if you dismiss every problem as being a rare occurrence.

And so far the Colorado is doing much better on reliability than the Tacomas so to pay more and get less and then excuse by saying "well at least it should last forever unlike the competition" is basically relying on the past success to count for the future. And besides, why would someone be happy with driving a vehicle that lacks in so many areas simply because it lasts a long time? All that means is that you'll be unhappy in the same vehicle for a really long time haha. (IF it actually lasts that long.) Again, not hating on the truck. More so the logic/mindset.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
Like air bags that don't deploy and kill you. I can see how that doesn't trump a rear end leaking oil.

Like the Colorado's that burned to the ground in the parking lot due to electrical issues?

Maybe this year. I mean who really cares what a reliability score is for a vehicle that's 2 years old. No one knows how this will all play out just yet for any of these new rigs.

**This post is meant to poke holes in your arguments, but it's not that I disagree with you. It's to prove this is all pointless**

As soon as I saw this thread I thought of Smitty and his Michael Jackson popcorn eating meme... I figured he'd be on this faster than a TRD owner with can of plasti-dip
