I don't think you understand how light I mean when I say light coats, lol...

As long as it's above 60*, never had a problem, and I spray paint a lot

I guess if they are light enough. Normally after the first (tack) coat, you can spray in a more uniform heavier layered passes. After about three passes, the piece should be mostly covered. The fourth coat is likely for hitting any spots you missed.
