Hey guys. I'm looking to sell my tow hitch tire gate with dual 5 gallon jerry can holder and wanted to check if anyone here wanted it before I list it elsewhere. It's been a great substitute for a rear bumper, but I need money for bills and won't be needing this kind of storage for a while. It's custom built and uses Wilco's "Wedge" to secure to the hitch with minimal wobble. Selling for $500 and located in Denver. PM me with any questions!

Hey guys, I'll be heading out to CO to spend a few weeks in RMNP and the surrounding areas (aka Left Hand) and intend to take the truck on some fun old mining roads. I can't really find a definitive answer anywhere so I thought I'd ask here- will Imogene be passable in the first 2 weeks of June, or does it not get cleared until later in the season?

Failing that, any other suggestions for 'must do' trails while I'm out there? I'm stock TRD OR and have to drive the truck 20 hours back home, so not looking for anything too over the top, but would love to get off pavement for a few days of the trip.

Well my first thought is you say 'a few weeks in RMNP and the surrounding areas' and then you ask about Imogene which is like six to eight hours away on the other side of the state, with far more old mining roads/sites (at least of significance, imho). Given a choice, I'd spend my few weeks down there rather than up here... but then I live here. :D

I'm going to go with almost definitely not, but 'hey you could win the lottery' for Imogene being open that early. Last four or five years at least it hasn't opened until mid-July. See http://bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm if you want to look at the (user reported) history. Several of the easy passes down there (like Cinnamon or Ophir) they shoot to have plowed open by Memorial Day, which is the week before. They don't always make it, and Imogene is harder/lower on the priority list.

A note about RMNP, you should also be aware that Highway 34 has been closed all winter between Loveland and Estes, and while it will reopen for the summer, there will still be construction. Don't know if you are aware of that or what your planned route(s) are. There are a few trails around here I'm sure we could recommend (I'd put Rollins Pass on the list), but you should be aware your timeframe is typically when things start opening up.

That is a cool idea to get a lot of the functionality and still be 'removable'. I would suggest posting up over here though: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/colorado-trading-post.148930/page-604

Good notes. I guess I should be a little more specific, the entire state is basically fair game. We will be there for 11 days and plan to camp/backpack every night but 2, so we can be pretty flexible with moving around. RMNP is really just the starting point of the trip. I don't expect us to stay there more than 3-4 days. I'm deliberately not making a 'we're doing such and such on this day and such and such on that day' level schedule, because it will fall apart anyway, so we're treating it more like an 'explore whatever' adventure type trip.

I ordered one of those Fumoto oil drain valves. It showed up today. Is it supposed to be in the open position right out of the bag? I guess I should ask, how does one hold in the oil when the drain hole doesn't close?

You should just be able to flip the toggle switch to close it. Is that not the case with yours?

I will just add I have seen them doing this years ago and it's a big azz Bull Dozer doing the "plowing" it's a shit ton of snow up there.

Might be able to get here as a fall back plan if the passes are still all filled up with snow.

Very nice. Now what happens when you rotate that silver tab up 90 degrees?

Cross sectional view. Hopefully should explain what's going on in the closed position. You need to rotate your toggle switch.

Figured it was more compassionate to spare you the pain of crawling around trying to find the spring after it launched itself into oblivion when you started opening it up. Been there done that.
