    Hi everyone,

Been a while since I have been on site. Looking for suggestions/ info and personal experience with projector kits. I did see past post pretty much asking same info but wanted to see if anymore updates. I've seen a lot of guys like the spyder halo full assembly's- I too like the look! But, I've herd they can be junk etc. I have a message out to (TRS) Retro Source- I know they make great products. Just want to see what my options are, and if any of you guys have purchased any kits that are plug and play?

    Thanks ! Gabe

TRS retrofit kit. Take your time and do it slow, and you'll get it right on the first try. It is not hard, and there are vids on youtube that walk you through the whole process.

It used to be difficult to do your own because you had to drill through them with a hole saw, but now they have a kit that uses the stock holes, and you just have to so some grinding on the back of the light. It is very difficult to mess up... so for about $300 you can get the Real Deal instead of those ebay half-measures.

The most difficult part is waiting until your lady is out of the house long enough for you to sneak into the kitchen and bake your headlights.

AFAIK, there aren't any "plug and play" kits available that are any good. Those Spyder and other e-bay projector lights have really shitty output when compared to stock headlights and even more so when compared to a true retrofit. @Coot83 did a "mini-retro" on a set that came out really good but by his own admission, there was still a lot of careful work involved.

If you're not comfortable doing the work yourself, there are a couple vendors here that provide the service or you can buy outright. Each option has it's costs involved, but that's kind of why you only see a handful of members with true retrofits on their trucks. Time or money, you'll be making an investment either way, whether or not it it's worth it to you is another topic all together.

Those headlights are upgradable internally with a better projector but at that point you might as well Retrofit factory style lights sense you'll have more options for projector choice

These lights were stupid easy to retro and the process was actually pretty fun to do. This was my first mod I did to my truck so I was a little nervous. The other factor was that many of my friends like others on TW want to retro their lights. I took this on myself to help contribute to my local group and learn how to separate lights and retro. Now there are two of us that are pretty confident with retros, so in my mind I have no regrets helping out my community if they want to do this.

I got these because I wanted a different look than the stock look. If you are looking for an easy solution, as @kustom54lighting said just keep your stock ones as that way you get to save a few hundred. The stock ones can give you some options as by it being a completely "open" compartment you can get whatever look you want out of it. For me, I just wanted to rock something at the time few if any had and it still sets my truck apart with these lights.

    A lot of stuff.
This from a Previous threat: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-replacements-thoughts.488045/#post-14992429

I'm familiar with them. They also sold by "Spyder" https://www.carid.com/spyder/black-...-lbdrl-bk.html?singleid=83736413&url=79300532

Your ref. on Ebay is cheaper.. I'm sure there the same.

I tried them, removed and returned back.
    Why?
    1. Loss of DRL mode on light switch .. these lights only work in "parking" mode.. what I mean is those "cool" white bands only work in parking mode, DRL no longer does anything on your switch.
    2. Low beam and High beam are separate lights - high beam are not on the same time as low beams.. thus not giving me much output. I currently have HID's.. didn't want to reduce my lumens...
