Is it speed related at all? RPM related? Could be a pulley or the carrier bearing also. I agree with above though, rule out brakes first, grease what you can in the drive line then go from there.

I'm at 34k so I wouldn't think I need brakes but who knows.

Didn't go away until I was completely stopped. Where do I grease the driveshafts? Probably a thread on it.

Nope, it's rotational but I do have that sound too

I do have a pulley that squeals in the morning but once it dries of the morning dew it's quiet. definitely speed related

    Thanks for the help!

I pulled up a photo of the gauges and it seems like he's doing about 70-80 right before he crashed. I don't think I ever took mine through corners that fast, even on familiar roads. The second I saw him start to illegally pass cars, any sympathy was gone.

One of the big reasons I sold the STi was that it was quick enough at the end by the time I had my acceleration rush I was going far too fast for comfort.

Really only 70-80 when he went down. I think he needs to attend driving school before hitting the road again. It looked like he was having a hard time controlling the car, I assumed he was triple digits.

Grease the zeros on the drive shaft, on the u joints. It could very well be the carrier bearing, hopefully not at 34k but you never know.

When I had my Tacoma, the metal shroud on the front brakes got bent a bit and rubbed against the rotor, making a pretty terrible sound.

There's a grease fitting on each U joint. Poke around and you'll find them. Clean off the end with a rag before you add grease too.

I need to regrease the U joints and drop the carrier bearing a bit with the new lift. Frantically looking for lca's (or was thanks @mach1man001) to rebuild asap so I can get a proper alignment...

Those carrier bearings suck. I went through quite a few when I had my Tacoma. I used to carry a spare with me lol.

Happy Friday everyone. Setting up to be a real shitty two days to end the week. I am part of a "team" of 2 people. Myself and my coworker. When we of us is out, the other covers and does two people's job. Well, he's out today and tomorrow. FML.

Hate it when he's out. And I hate taking time off as well because he goes through the same thing.

Make sure you really need a drop kit before you do it. If I recall, the angle of the drive shaft between the transfer case and the carrier already has some slope to it so dropping it could have adverse effects. The carrier bearing itself is garbage. Well, the bearing is good, it's the rubber around it that's junk and lets the drive shaft flop around. When I did my lift, I flipped my carrier bearing, effectively raising it a bit, but making it so the first part of the drive shaft is flat. I also filled the space around the carrier with RTV to help keep it from wobbling. You might want to try that out first.

    Morning all.
Screw you Friday faces. Felt like Friday when I got up this morning, but I've still got to go to work tomorrow. Vacation next week, that's probably why this week is taking so damn long.

LOL. The dude I work with is cool, and he's been around forever and a day, so he knows everything about anything that's related to what we do.
