Nice nice, last question I hope, did you upgrade Upper control arms? I've heard that you should, and also heard that it doesn't matter, thoughts?

    Not Enough.
If you're lifting high enough to clear 285's, I'd recommend it sooner rather than later. That being said, I'm running extended travel King resi coil overs on the front of mine on stock uppers. I haven't measured, but I'm guessing I'm somewhere around 2-2.5" of lift. Been like that for a couple weeks. However, I do have a set of aftermarket control arms sitting in a box in my garage that will find their way on the truck this weekend probably. Because at full droop, my upper arms hit the spring, and the upper ball joint is NOT happy.

Im on bilstein 5100s on 3rd notch amd 285/70. Zero issue getting it aligned (only reason aftermarket uca are needed).

Any higher lift and yea you should get them.

So when thr suspension droops out, the upper arm articulates down. Since there is no limit strapx thr limiting factor is the balljoint binding inside between the spindle and the upper arm. Do this enough times with force and that joint will snap. Sounds like since he upgraded to a wider shock his arm is also hitting the spring.

So when you hit bumps and stuff though is there any hitting or rubbing due to the UCA's? Or is that not the issue.

haha no problem, but are the coils you have OEM, or the coils that come with the bilstein 5100s?

I haven't had that issue at all. Stock springs on bilstein 5100s. Bilsteins 5100 are just the struts. You can get them assembled with some different springs though

Thats what i did. 4 notches, im on the 3rd.

I had a 2004 tundra double cab with the bilsteins maxed out and total chaos upper arms and loved it, which is why i did it again for the taco. Its good for what it is. Cheap lift. Clears my tires and looks good. And when im ready to start really abusing the truck the bilsteins will go in the trash and get replaced with something that costs one more digit haha

But until then, they do the job fine.

Is it the same lift you have? If you wouldn't mind clicking the link and checking, plus you'll never guess what truck I had before this tacoma... a 2004 tundra :D

Exactly. I guess I should have elaborated more. Thank you for explaining that, and very clearly.

Which is exactly why I shouldn't have gotten rowdy at the beach this weekend when I got mad because I wasn't catching any fish... But it looked cool (not a video, just a screenshot). :D:D:D

    Screenshot_20170428-174615.jpg

I had 5100s and stock springs before I got my Kings. With an ARB front bumper, and a winch shoved in it, I had to put them on the top notch to keep it level. It rode like you would think with all that preload. Like a dump truck. However, as stated, it's cheap, gets the job done, and it's decent shit.

But after running these Kings, I can't go back. :D

I got a smoking hot deal on these, but now that I have them, I'd honestly pay full price for another set if I had to. I still find myself smiling when I'm riding next to a Cadillac that rides rougher than these things. Lol.
