I figured out how to physically remove/delete the key in ignition-door open bell, dinger, etc.

    My vehicular 2017 sr dcsb 4x4 v6.

I work construction daily, my truck is my office. On most sites the keys are left in the truck or ignition. My truck has the stock entune without the app button. When I purchased the truck I requested that the dealer remove the seat belt dinger, bell and the door open key in ignition dinger, bell.

The dealer said it was only able to deactivate the seat belt bell and that's all they did.

I recently read how to add intermittent wipers to this truck on, tacomaworld, mine came with the standard two speed wipers. So while I installed the new wiper switch I figured I would play around with the ignition to see how it works.

The wiper switch was super easy to install.

I noticed a white plastic cover on the front of the ignition.

I took a pick and removed to cover.

BE CAREFUL !!!!!!!! THERE IS A LITTLE SPRING UNDER THE CAP THAT SHOOTS OUT LIKE A KOREAN SCUD MISSIL, FAST AND WHO KNOWS WHERE ITS GOING!!!!!!
    Ask me how I know.

Remove the spring and plastic part with the two contact prongs. Reinstall plastic cover.

Done deal no more door bell, ringer, dinger when the key is in ignition.

I have over a thousand miles on truck with this delete performed and my stock truck is performing perfectly. The cab lights still function with opening and closing of the door and my key, ignition immobilizer still works. The dealer installed karr alarm functions too.

I have no idea if this will work on a truck with more accessories, like a tech package, or a trd model. I'm sure someone else here can figure that out.

I'm not responsible for damage to anyone else's truck!

Thanks to moe2o4 for the write on the wiper switch.

Hope this helps some of you guys out.

How untimely! I just rewired the door switch in my SR access cab to do this very thing. This is a much better way! I cut the wire from the door plunger switch and spliced it in to upper access door switch. It works great, but...dooh!

I agree, no reason it shouldn't work. Ive only had the truck a couple days.....I guess I wanted some reassurance before I dove into it. I am in and out of my truck all day and a lot of times leave my phone/music there because I am working right next to it. I would really like to just keep the door open sometimes. If I find the time I will give it a shot and report back.
    Thanks!

This worked on my sport with tech. package. However, I just unplugged the connector from the bottom of the piece the OP took the cover off. Sorry, no pictures, but it just pulls out. Thank you PB FAB!

Your welcome. Clearwater Bill pointed it out on his second gen that the harness unplugged. I took mine apart and was able to get the wire harness unplugged this time. Much easier, no need to remove wiper switch and then cover. Good job smdbcr.
