The work outs are not out of my league by any means, the only brutal part is waking up. It sucked today cause I had to get up at 520, do the stupid class, then work from 1130 to 9.

Good for you on the 5k, I've been barely putting that in, did 3 miles Monday and Tuesday. I was hoping to get a jog in after my class today but my legs felt so torched (we were doing dead lifts and rows today) which is ok cause I clocked like a little over 9 miles at work today. I'm
Doing a 5k on Sunday, looking forward to it, then getting drunk.

Today is Thurby. A new marketing ploy by those who specialize in separating unsuspecting partiers from their hard earned money while waiting for (The Kentucky) Derby to get here. The THURsday before derBY. The Derby Parade is this evening. Tomorrow is Kentucky Oaks Day. That is "Derby" for the locals. The Kentucky Oaks is a single race on the card for an entire day of racing. It's "Lillies for the Phillies".....a race for the top phillies. Oaks Day is predominantly Kentucky folk who stay home and have private parties on Derby Day itself. Many GIANT celebrity parties on Friday evening. The city is a madhouse while all this is going on. Gas prices go up $.60 to $.75 a gallon while all the tourist's are in town. Last night, in downtown Louisville 3 kids (age 12, 13, and 15) carjacked an out-of-towner at gunpoint. They crashed into a parked car 6 blocks away when Police started a pursuit. The drink of choice during all the festivities is the Mint Julep. (Mostly bourbon) Women wear hats that you could house a family of 12 under. Limo's line the streets. The tarmac at Louisville International Airport looks like an sales brochure for Gulfstream. Liquor stores make 1/3rd of their anticipated yearly profits. 3 weeks of parades, steamboat races, marathons, food courts, hot air balloon races, and traffic jams.

All for a 2 minute horse race.

When it's all over, Sunday morning, Louisville is left with a few thousand tons of garbage, a jail full of partiers, and all the cash vendors can pry out of the hands of the drunks.

We host Thurby breakfast and dinner, Oaks Brunch, Derby Brunch, parking and shuttle service, and a few nar-do-wells that hang out here on race day because they're too cheap to go anywhere else.

Makes my life such a joy while it's going on.....

    ......Aaaaaaaaaaaaand their OFF!

Latest estimates say about 250,000 at Churchill Downs on race day, roughly 400,000 people in town, and all the hell razin' folks that already live here.....Brings an estimated 6 mil into the area economy.

If you can deal with the manic traffic, it's quite a show! Likkered up rich women and/or those who wish to portray themselves as such! Ain't nuthin' better!
