Worked every weekend for almost a month now..ugh

 

Its nitrogen overload that's killing the grass. I would guess dog poop is acidic given a dogs diet and the high nitrogen content. I do know nitrogen plays a major role in soil pH. So the nitrogen overload could turn your soil acidic and in turn kill the grass. You could replicate it by putting a scoop of fertilizer in one spot. This off the top of my head though. It's been a minute since I have read up on this.

I really like lawn care/gardening. Been trying to get our back yard back to how it should be but we have a red clayish soil and it's been fighting me for the two years I lived here.

I'll be enjoying the sun from a window prepping for the last bit of finals. It's suppose to be 75 here. I am hoping for good weather for graduation next week...

 

It's going to be in the mid-80s today in Imnaha. We can hope.

Lol you can tell who works in my neighborhood and who's retired by their lawn. My neighbor basically lives for his yard and garden. When I get a place the front yard will be made into a large garden. Having a nice lawn is a waste of water.

Mowing lawns was still one of my fav jobs i had..probably do that if i ever retire haha

 

I still have a mental picture of you pulling that trailer with all your gear on with a bike. My dad used to tell me I should be more motivated because of you . I wish I was, just needed a push in the right direction back then.

If I was ever in need of work during the summer I would 100% get a mower and start charging for weekly mows and dog poop cleaning. Way better than being a waiter or some other job.

 

If you aren't afraid to mix you're own shit. Go to your Weed and Pest district. Buy some Chaperel. It kills Broadleafs. So anything that isn't a grass basically. We used that all the time. We called it grass grower. Amazing stuff. Be careful around trees and you do NOT want to over apply...

Man i made BANK mowing lawns. My dad kept pushing me trying to take it more serious because i had like 22 clients or so. But i like only working 3-4 hours a day 4 days a week could have really capitalized on it though.

 

Probably could have maintained your business over time. Hiring highschoolers to do the work.

I was reading an article not to long ago about Bill Gates answering a question about what he would do if he had to live off $2 a day. He said he would get chickens and went through how he would get money/live off them. I wish I had the same mindset I do now back then because there is a lot of small buisinesses I could have enjoyed and made a decent profit off of.

 

I started looking into worm farming too. Pretty damn easy.

I was super close to hiring help. But i was SO picky on how i wanted shit done, im not sure i could have. There are some things that are considered "normal" practices when mowing a lawn that i hate. It never looks as good and it doesn't save on time. So I'd have to pound that into a bunch of lil shits heads every year haha

I know some people do christmas lights too in some areas and live off that alone.

 

O no, I hope to capitalize on some things. Such as the garden in the front lawn, having chickens for food/profit, etc. I just wish I had the knowledge/motivation back then because I was broke and it would have been a great experience . Soon as I am semi-permenant I'll be looking into the small things you can profit from. Kind of hard for some things when you are renting or moving every year.

 

haha speaking of cut grass the dudes my land lord hires is doing our lawn now. Man i love the smell of fresh cut grass....and then it smells so bad later haha
