So I have had a clunk slowly developing when I go through dips, I have lifted the truck about 3" with OME and the 886 springs. Long story short I have replaced upper control arms with JBA, replaced lower bushings and ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, shock top hat, And the clunk persists! So I got a wild hair to see what my steering rack is doing and when I turn the wheel the rack moves left and right, could this be the cuase of my clunk when im going through dips?

    https://youtu.be/BRXg-XKVKz8
    https://youtu.be/gnnqxFw-ni8

So my truck is still making the noise I am noticing it more and more when I am turning the wheels but I can not recreate the pop while stationary it can also be heard when driving through dips, the slower i go tends to make it worse. Its driving me insane so I have some driving videos, just a recap this noise is the reason that I changed shocks, upper contol arms, the noise is there even with the sway bar removed, changed lower ball joint, and the inner and outer tie rods, im at my witts end with this. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Im working on a video. Im trying to find the best way to mount. But as for those bushings should they have that much play?

    Awesome video!

Is this the OME clunk that I've heard other people complain about?

FYI my rack had similar movement so I replaced the bushings with Energy Suspension bushings(not a fun job)and still had a similar amount of movement afterwards. I'm chalking it up as normal.

The clunk started when I had my bilstien 5100's so its not specific to the OME. Im pretty sure I can hear a slight knocking in the videos more so on the pasenger side that sounds like the knock im hearing but not as loud in the videos. Its way more loud in person. I will try and take a video of me driving both at the rack and the wheel

I'd check the torque on the upper AND lower arms. You've had a lot of work done and an alignment so there is room for error. The alignment guy might not have torqued the lower control arm bolts after the alignment.

I had a similar issue and replaced the sway bar bushings. Problem solved.

I had a clunk that was driving me nuts for a week. I couldn't see the problem until I took the wheel off. It was obvious at that time. Less than 15k miles. No wheeling, just a nasty Michigan pot hole.

What camera do you mount and how did you mount it. I'd love to record my truck while driving

In the first video, the steering rack seems to move a lot, but I don't know if that is normal.

Can you record from other angles? Lets take a look at pass side. Almost looks like the sway bar is hitting something. Maybe sway arm frame mount points are loose.

I can assure you it is not loose or hitting. The noise was there while i had the sway bar completely removed. And i reinstalled the sway bar and checked all the bolts made sure they were all still torqued. I am gonna take a few more and try and look at the front diff and the pass side.

Have you tried jacking up the frame so the drivers side suspension is hanging down at its max and spinning the tire and listening to that cv joint?

I have not, im not sure what to look for in the cv. It dose have some play side to side along its axis, but other than that what do i look for?

I was curious how smoothly that joint spins and how quiet. It might be a coincidence but the noise seems to occur when that joint changes angle greatly.

The steering rack play is more than normal, there are many bushing replacement kits. It's a bear to do but makes a huge difference with how the truck drives after.

To me, beyond what you've done I would swap the axles left to right, I feel like at full compression it's jamming the joint possibly the inner. You could open the boot and inspect but it's easier just to pop'em and swap'em.

So i jacked up the truck and spun the wheels, nothing jumped out at me as abnormal no noises everything is tight, except where the cv enters the diff its got mad slop, I have breifly read about the needle bearing and what not, could that cause the noise im hearing?
