Well OP, after looking into how our door is constructed with more detail, I don't see how that a speaker mount or depth will interfere with the locking mechanism unless it helped prevent the door from closing completely.
What is apparent is that everyone who talked about possibly installing the lock control cables in the wrong place or the wrong way is much more likely. What's more, you can probably remove the door handle and latch access panels with out having to remove the entire door to access the cables. Watch this video very closely, especially when he explains the latch cable attachment.

By the way, you recorded a nice video but I don't think any of us had any doubt your door no worky. :)

Yup, I'm betting that when you put the door back together, you forgot to seat the cable in the clip. You are going to have to pop the door lock out and pull the cable manually to release the latch.

I actually watched that video and a few others prior to installing. Before I managed to open the driver side I thought I mixed up the cables too, but it wasn't the case once I popped the panel off. I'm 100% positive the passenger side was also in correct order.

As I said in a previous post the white/green cable are only for interior latch not exterior. Even if I'd Mixed the cables up it wouldn't have effected me from opening door from outside.

As for getting inside the door I was wondering if the door panel is in two pieces? If you look at the video part of the panel is red. Is it possible to remove that section so I can access the cables or mech inside???

Too further my point regarding this being a fitment issue let's play devil's advocate... Even if I had mixed the cables up I still wouldn't have gotten access to the driver side by simply pressing on the outside of the door and inside panel.

No, I do not believe you can.
I just got in from removing my door panel, speaker and messing around with different things.
I have a couple videos but the internet speed sucks at the hotel where I am so uploading to youtube may take a while.
@DonM77 compare pulling the inside door handle on the passenger rear door with the drivers rear door. do they feel exactly the same?
I disconnected the cable for the door latch and pulled on the handle. It is very different, no resistance vs a little.

If your lock toggle flips when you use the keyfob then you did not mix up the cables. I tried this also and the result is way different than your video.

EB, thanks for confirming I'm not the idiot I originally thought I was in my original post.

As mentioned in a previous post I'm 100% certain my issues are a result of poor fitment. The only thing I question is... if both panels installed flush and snapped correctly where exactly is the issue? It is truly the weirdest thing I've encountered in 20 years of installing audio!

You have experience doing this stuff. I think you would know the first time you closed the door if it did not close as it should.
How hoes the handle feel when you pull on it compared to the drivers?

Like I said the panels all lined up flush and snapped in correctly. Visually all looks good. You confirmed the cables were Installed correctly. The door closed fine... handle has slightly less pressure

If it has less pressure there is a possibility that the door latch cable (bottom green one) is not connected properly. It may have come unsnapped somehow. That would definitely cause exactly what you are experiencing.
If I remember correctly when pulling the handle at the first little bit there is not much resistance then the slack in cable is gone and it grabs the latch and releases it. Does that make sense?

Makes sense but the internal noises leads me to beleive it is attached based on driver side when latch is released.

Even if the green cable was free, I should still be able to open from outside

The only thing I did differently with this install was not disconnect the battery prior to installing speakers. Is it possible this caused something weird with child safety lock?

    Thoughts

My truck is older but I had a look at my child safety locks and they are 100% mechanical. I haven't installed stereos professionally for 15 years, but I do recall accidentally setting a child lock more than once. That said, it shouldn't have anything to do with the outside lock.

Interestingly enough though while I couldn't replicate a 100% failure like you have, I could create pressure on the inside cables by pulling the inside handle a bit and create a condition where the outside handle stopped working consistently.

Props! Dedication to the cause man, breaking the seal on a 2017!

When I pull the Inside handle I can hear it try to unlock. Think maybe you might be on the right track. Will do some more testing...

It has happened to me. Roll down the window, pull on the inside latch like you're opening the door, then pull the exteriors door handle while holding the interiors one. Let me know if it works
