Morning all, I currently reside in southern california and I own a 07' subaru wrx STI. Love the car but I was thinking of trading it in for an 09 Taco with either TRD off road or sport. Cant decide which one. Dont get me wrong the STI is hella fun but I could use a truck right now. I used to own an 02' Thundra with the 4.7liter V-8
Miss it everyday. Gas prices are a pain right now but its affordable since I own the STI. I was thinking of perhaps picking up the DC 4x4. Can anyone tell me the differences between the off road and the sport and the minor options on the 09's and 08's. Also whats the mpg on the 4x4 v-6. Sorry so long. Thanks.

Nice car. Sport and Off-road are same inside. Sport has slight advantage on-road handling, Off-road obviously, well off-road. Otherwise looks.

08' generally no electronic aids, ie VSC/TRAC or sidebags. Old school fun. Sport has a Mech LSD, Off-road a locker button when in 4lo. Can buy much cheaper than 09.

09' have standard safety VSC/TRAC features and sidebags. Ipod aux, Backup camera opt, new tailights. Sport lost Mech LSD, all have Auto-LSD when VSC when shut off (in 2wd only), Off-road retains locker and gets A-TRAC.

6spd geared short to pull and haul, over 65 auto will do a mpg better. At 75+ probably 2 mpg. The old 16/20 seems accurate mpg for most.

It sounds like the 09's have more luxuries than the older one does. What can you get one out the door for 09' with the DC 4x4 and Sport. I dont think I will need the off road package too much here in cali but I wouldnt mind doing a lil off roading. Some of those creature comforts sound nice considering I dont have too many with my STI. I am not worried about the stiff ride at all since I feel everything on the road with what I drive now. Thanks for the replies. Nice community you guys have here.

they're not gonna come out too much off the msrp on the 09's b/c of the backlog of 08's w/ all the incentives on them

Depends on where you're at. I checked with my local dealer for an '08, and there were 8 or 9 of them with the 4x4, DC and manual tranny in the entire state. I just picked up my '09 this morning and I got it at dealer invoice.

Invoice was around $27,300. After handling fees and taxes it was around $29,500 OTD

Wow nice Tacoco. Any pics? I was thinking of that color as well. I also hear that the new 09's come with leather if you want. I like the fact that they have the ipod option now. Is yours a 4x4?

well leather has always been an option, but more like the dealer sending it off to get done. and its not really a full ipod option b/c the aux jack is only a headphone jack. it doesnt charge it or anything. u can only use a M to M headphone cord

It is a 4x4. I will try to post some pictures tonight... The magnetic gray metallic is sweet, especially sparkling in the sun. The mp3 player jack is somewhat chintz in that it's just an AUX stereo mini jack, so you can't control the ipod using the stereo or anything, and it doesn't charge the ipod... I'm thinking that I'll probably get the aftermarket hookup for the JBL radio.

There's an aftermarket cable that you can connect to the back of the factory stereo that connects to the ipod via the 30 pin connector. The jack on the '09s is a stereo mini plug that you have to connect via the headphone jack on the ipod.

So that gives you the ability to charge it which is nice. All I know is I had that damn FM transmitter and hated it so even an aux jack is better than nothing. Does anyone know what the 2010 model look like or what engine options it has? I was also thinking of maybe holding off til that one comes out but we all know about new models and all the bugs.

Well, it's a bit early for that, but I doubt there will be any changes in 2010.

Thats a pretty good price. All them options and 29 for an 09. I would say that doesnt sound half bad. I am looking for one thats Double Cab for the same or less.

I found my 09 with the Sport Package. Love it. The "hood scoop" sets it off. The 6 disc radio is not a very good radio. The back up camera is nice but takes some getting use to. :D
