As I have read from others, I have a squeaky clutch. At my 5k service it was lubed and that lasted for about 500 miles, after listening to it for another 500 miles I contacted yota corp and they have now opened a case. The rep suggested I take it back to the dealership so they can attempt to repair it again. Which I will do as soon as I have a chance.

I ask if you have a squeaky clutch, please report this to Yota so they can attempt to solve this problem, this is my 3rd manual trans taco, but the first time dealing with this. What did they change on the 3rd gen clutch?

I know the fix is to carry a can of lith spray, but I would rather yota fix the issue instead of my putting a bandaid on it every 500 miles.

yes lithium brake grease, and thats what they sprayed on it at the 5 k service, worked for 500 miles. But again, this should not be up to any one of us to fix at this point, it should be up to yota to solve. If we all take care of it on our own, they yota does not hear that there is an issue with the clutch and they don't spend any resources solving the problem.

The problem in all my Tacoma's happened in hot temps and it would creak like an old barn door. The regular lubes must melt off causing the problem, Disc Brake Grease has solved it for me because it stays put at high temps, you may wanna give it a try.

I got the tub of brake grease from my local auto store--looks like a jar of vaseline. I put on some latex gloves and just went to town lubing up all parts of the clutch. I did this with 500 miles on the truck but im hoping i never hear the noise. I'll probably get under there every oil change and repeat.

thanks, at 36,001 miles ( I think thats when that part of the warranty ends) I will give that a try, till then, its yota's thing to fix.

they are just gonna spray wd-40 or lithium grease making you think its fixed---and it'll return. I haven't seen anyone get permanent fix through the dealership yet. But def keep us posted if you do get something changed out. For me, it only takes 5 mins every 10k miles so I don't bother wasting my time with the dealership on small things like this. Gotta pick your battles with them.

but if we all continue to let yota know this is an issue, maybe we all can save that 5 minutes every 10k miles. Or in my case it came back after 500 miles.

This was maybe the only single issue I ever had on my 1st gen manual trans. They ended up at one point having to replace the entire clutch pedal assembly (bushing was shot) I remember spraying some white lithium grease in there and IIRC it helped quiet it down.

My clutch squeaked for what seemed like 30 seconds when I was pulling into a parking lot. When I came back out to leave I was dialing the dealer, but it stopped so I hung up... never happened again. I have no clue if it will happen again but I will take it in next time/call. The truck has about 7k on it so we will see.

Toyota has to be aware of it as its been a problem since the 1st Gen, kinda like weak rear springs, they just wont address it. After experimenting on all of my Tacoma's the Disc Brake Grease has been the only long term solution.

I would agree with you, but a howling diff is enough cabin noise for me right now, I don't need something else creaking in there. I need my sanity.

Definitely temperature dependent. I don't hear it all winter and the first time it hits 60 deg it comes back. Dealer tried WD-40 last time and it did nothing besides make the truck stink for a few days.

It comes and goes it's either the spring or the bushing. Try lithium grease if you get tired of dealer visits. Crawl up under the pedals get your head down there where you can see up behind them. Spray some grease on the clutch pedal assembly. Push it in and out and spray again. Let me know what you find out. Mind your eyes. ...White lithium grease is not good for them.

Yeah I dealt with this in Los Angeles rush hour for all of about 3 months before I almost had a "Falling Down" moment

Raise Hell with the dealership until they fix it. I have my doubts as this has been an issue for 20 years to my knowledge. It's like the needle bearing.
