Yup, and nothing seems to be rubbing my tires

 

Engine related should change pitch/frequency with RPMs. Assuming it changes with road speed and not engine RPM I would start with drive shafts, axles, etc... Start with greasing the U-Joints.

 

Did you just lift your truck ? Or was that someone else. Tough for me to keep up with this thread.

 

Sounds like the cv boot is rubbing.

 

Lifted it back in September 4K+ miles since then. New tires a couple months

 

Do you have a stretch of road that has a long wall on the right side? Drive down the road with only the passengers side windows down. That should help you get closer to if the noise is from the front or rear of the truck.

 

Maybe Rebecca slipped a big dildo in there before she left for Florida.

That's a tough one to do over the internet. I'd start with what vssman said above.

 

So I may have determined what the sound is. None of the boots are torn, I don't see any leaks. I will grease the U-joints tonight. However just for the hell of it I tried it in 4wd. Sound went away. My guess is the TSB needle bearing has also gone bad.....doubt they would fix it again, so in that case..........who wants to do an ECGS bushing?

So since it was 80 out last saturday I spent noon-8pm sitting by the tailgate of the truck with an ice chest. My arms got pretty pink! Today was the first day where it didn't hurt to shower, so it looks like it's fading into a tan.

Now I just look funny shirtless. Hard line between pale and tan haha

 

I think John nailed it. That's an odd noise. I'd look at CV boots and I'd check out the carrier bearing also. If something shifted, the drive shaft could be rubbing the rubber around the carrier. Again, unlikely, but I'm not sure where else you could have a rubber on metal sound like that.

 

I seriously considered doing mine since I lifted, but I don't get any vibrations and no new noises so I may wait? Or maybe I should just do it now and get it over with?

I lifted mine and never had any issues and never did the ECGS fix. I only went up 1.5" though...

Huh? Access cabs have the same wheel base as the DCSB don't they?

 

Yes they do. I'd heard that the weight difference may play a role in whether or not you get vibes or noise from a lift, but IDK.
