What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

$1800 quote for bumper and hitch. Yea i'm looking into a steel alternative. Honestly i'm not going to be wheeling this thing to hard so no need for high clearance. As far as offroading, I mainly drive a fair amount of forest/fire roads with the occasional mild trail situation for fun. But still the added protection/strength/style of steel is appealing. Trying to find a steel bumper that has a more mild appearance and doesn't stick out to far.

 

I really need to break check people more...

A steel rear bumper is something I want because although I've got a receiver hitch D-ring shackle it would be nice to have multiple points for recovery.
Last weekend I went on a trail and was following a friend in a fully tricked out LandCruiser and managed to bump my trailer plug, bending it about 30˚. Took it off and zip tied it underneath (going to completely remove this weekend).

I have another buddy who has a full fabrication set up, even a plasma cutter and when the time is right I'll be bugging him to make me a bumper.

There are a buttload of fabricators out there so you have plenty of options to go with something that's fairly normal, to high clearance to aluminum, tube or plate, hybrid, etc.

Hopefully you get that check soon and can really begin shopping!

 

Who is familiar with limit straps that will allow me to pick their brain?

I have 2.5 ICON coilovers w/ RR extended travel and I want to get as much height out of them as possible (Going to adjust the coilover for more height). My only concern is that to achieve the height I want Im probably going to be getting close to the point at which its overextending.

Am not all that familiar with limit straps but based on my limited knowledge of them they can prevent this issue if you extend the coilovers to maximum height. Thoughts?

 

Once they are polished, seal them, it makes a world of difference when it comes to maintaining them.

driving around with 35s, 22 PSI turbo boost, 4 inch exhaust is fun while waiting for the time to fix your stock taco

 

If I get the leaf recall taken care of, and secure the tail gate and add custom TRD decals, it's no longer stock,right? Hehehehe

Took my inno bed rail mounts and used them for front rail tie downs. I can still move them anywhere on the bed rail.

Just as strong as the one's that come on my Tacoma. And you can position them anyway you want.

 

Have you considered SOS concepts? You could drive there and pick them up in person since they're located in SC.

 

Lol, I actually have a pair of their sliders on order. The shipping wasn't too bad ($100) so I'm just having them sent up my way.

 

Oh, well there ya go! I'd do the same thing. After gas and food, you're not saving that much money.

 

SOS Concepts is great. I'll probably eventually get my front bumper from them as well.

 

That's who I was planning on going through too! Still would if I still had my truck. I was really wanting a stinger on mine.
