i am having trouble finding exactly what I want. I love the sport suspension, some people say it's to rough, I say it drives like a truck should. Everything that I am reading is more or less saying that if I lift it I am going to get a smoother ride (which If I can I would like to avoid) or for example put on 886 coils and make it way to stiff. I have a 3gen DCSB and I don't have any plans to add a heavy bumper or winch in the near future. Does anyone have a 2.5-3 in suspension lift that they are really happy with that rides stiff like the stock sport suspension?

    Thanks

I agree with you and like how my sport rides as well. I ordered all the parts for my lift while I am deployed and once I get home in about 5 more weeks I will be installing my lift and hopefully it doesn't smooth out the ride on my truck and kinda hope it makes it slightly stiffer since I still think it rides a little too smooth to be a truck. I ended up getting an OME lift for the front with 888 springs and 90000 shocks for the firmer ride but decided on an AAL for the rear plus a set of firestone ride rites air bags for the back for when I carry a lot of weight.

Check out Icon, they have a stiff sporty feel. I think you would be very pleased!

Liquid- Im interested to see how that drives when you get back.

My brother had a 2012 DCSB with icons all around and it didnt seem to drive near as stiff as the sport suspension, although it was still very nice. What would be a quality suspension that can be added that would be most like the stock sport suspension? When you mess with the angles and geometry of a lift is it hard to achieve a stiff ride without being too stiff or is it just most people prefer a smoother ride so that is how companies engineer the lift to ride?

Icon is not stiff by any means.

OME basic coils and sport comfort shocks are a pretty stiff ride. You should be fine with OME. Stay away from coil over kits like icon, king, fox. Those tend to have a softer street ride.

But for me OME is way to stiff. Even the standard weight coils.

The OME coils are softer than stock and its the shocks that give you the firm ride not the coils. The stock coils are rated at 717lbs/inch while the OME 888 coils are rated at 590lbs/inch. I had OME front 885 springs with 90000 shocks on my 2014 access cab and loved the ride which was stiffer than stock and is the reason I am going with OME again. My 2016 double cab sport 4x4 rides a little too smooth for my taste and I loved the OME setup that I had before so I am going that route again.

Your selling me on the ride... but do those 888's not sit to high or throw off your cv angles?

None of the OME coils have a lower spring rate than the factory coils.

The factory coils are around 540.

Toytec posted a good thread in the 3rd gen forum at the top under the sticky section and I posted the link a few minutes ago in my previous post. read the first post in that thread and it will give you a lot of good info.

    I have a 4x4. I appreciate the link....

Liquid- how much stiffer was your ride on the 2014 than stock? And do you think it will equate to the same on the 3rd gen?

I had a second gen and I really miss it even though it was only a 4cyl 5spd manual 4x4 access cab. LOVED that truck. I was really surprised when I found out that the 3rd gens spring was so high btw because I remember the 2nd gen's being lower than the OME setup that I had before. Keeping my fingers crossed that my ride ends up being similar to my second gen's with the setup that I went with.

It was quite a bit stiffer on my 2nd gen but I had an access cab 4x4 4cyl before and my wife said she hated the ride but I absolutely loved the ride with the OME setup. the ride was stiffer than the ride in my sport and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the firm shocks with the OME setup will also provide a firmer ride to my double cab even with the added weight. I will know in about 6 weeks when I get home and I am able to install my lift. The AAL and firestone ride rites in the back will also make it feel stiffer so I am pretty confident that I am going with the setup that I am looking for.

Thanks for your service by the way, i just got back from a deployment 5 weeks ago so I know how much you want to get back to that truck. Did you piece your parts out from different sites or did you find everything at one place for a pretty good deal?

I got the OME front setup from headstrong and the rear parts from several different places. I pieced mine together and cant remember off the top of my head where I got the rear parts from but I waited and bought each part once I found the best deal possible.
