    A few prelim questions.

    What area are you located?

Are you looking for feedback on what the trade in value is?

Are you looking for sedan recommendation?

    Both?

As far as valuing your trade in, dealers will mess with numbers depending on what they are getting on the car they are selling you. A good place to start is wholesale value thru NADA or try trade in value on kbb.com

Those numbers are close even tho the dealer may show something different that just means they are wiggling on what you're buying.

As far as sedans, IMO, it's not sexy but they're pretty inexpensive & very reliable. A Toyota Camry. 4 bangers with the 6 speed auto gets decent MPG & they're cheap new should be great on used side. Also newer units do well on IIHS test.

I raised two kids in my 2001, three years apart in age. Was totally fine for the four of us, we did a lot of driving, to Canada from Seattle for many hockey games that the kids played. Never a complaint even as late aged teenagers, all of us 6' and taller, except for the wife :)

Gotta love the Internet these days - - allowing people to make such ignorant remarks so freely.

Few can predict the future, but if you are thinking of trading, you might want to do it soon, before word gets massively out that the latest model of Tacomas have reliability issues and cause trade-in value drops.

Another suggestion OP, take your truck in for the recall and when dealer holds your truck hostage, ask for a camry or avalon.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
Is it too late to imply that OP's finances are in shambles or has someone beat me to it?

I just got rid of my sedan. The Tacoma is much easier to get my little one in and out.
If you truly want something easy and more economical than a SUV is a better option.
I picked up a brand new Honda Pilot last year for the wife and that thing is awesome when you have kids.

Even if it is the case OP didn't bring it up. Should TW?

IIRC OP wasn't overly satisfied with his truck anyway.

I really doesn't matter what his motives are. Loves it, hates it, can't afford, wants to use the extra green for hookers and blo. Who cares.

Subaru Forester. My wife loves hers, does great in the snow, and gets like 26-27 mpgs on the highway. Good safety ratings as well.

No problem with rear facing car seats in a double cab. Test fitted my wife's chicco nextzip and it fits behind the passenger seat with the seat slightly forward. It's doable since the wife sits in the back with the infant anyways. Infant carrier need more space but doable if the wife sits in the back.

I went with a diono radian r120. It fits great in the middle, however I got the adjuster pad and I have it behind the driver seat. I find it doesn't inpair my rear field of vision when it's behind my seat. I'm 5'8" and I have good leg room.

Not a sedan but we also have a 2015 highlander and that has plenty of room. Will need the extra space in the rear for multiple strollers, totes with spare clothes and diaper stuff.

Did your 2nd gen dip in value? I know 2nd gens had recalls for frame rust, failing springs, melting headlights, etc? The 14 model also has a valve spring recall. Are you underwater on yours? I looked here if you want a reference http://www.toyotaproblems.com/recalls/Tacoma/

IF you really want to get down to brass tacks, KBB will give you a cash offer in mins after you answer their questions (which are detailed as crap, so you'll answer the same question 4 different ways sometimes). At least it'll give you a legit idea.
