Planet Audio Amps

Pros??.....Cons??



I found an older model of this one at a local Stereo pawn shop. I can get the amp and cable kit for $90. SOunds like a great deal to me.


The amp is a 200W and the guy said that it can easily push two Jensen 10" subs.

from what I hear the older models are solid. it's the newer stuff they have that sucks.

 

Same holds true for other companies. Seems like the older stuff was the good stuff, but once they started to mass produce it all went downhill.

 

It looks alot like this. Its only the machined metal. No coloring to the logo. and its in a smaller size. But the guy hooked it up to 2 15" and it did amazing!

 

correct me if I'm wrong but there was a time when Pyramid amps really were the real deal ... but that was VERY long ago.

 

Pyramid amps are still talked about. Alot of my friends would like to have one. And they are the real deal because back then, they were made out of long lasting parts. NOT plastic

 

I would love to get my hands on the old Hifonics, Lanzar, PPI, Fosgate and Orion amps.

Its going to be powering 2 Jensen 10" subs. The box is a very small box and is vented through the rear. I dont want so much power that I can make the subs explode. I just want good thumps when I want to.

Class D..... Got it. I want the most amp for its price. I dont want to get a $400 amp and it really only produce 250W instead of 300W, you know?

It didnt hit as hard as it would with a 1300W but it still made my inside vibrate like crazy. He actually hooked up Orion subs to a Planet Audio amp.
