Security lug nut help

Here's the situation. I was gonna change my tires today and could not find my key for my lugs, don't have a clue where it went. Anyways I won't be using them anymore after I change then so I would rather not order the key and waste the money. Can anyone give me some alternatives to taking this security lug off, thanks in advance!!

Thought I would have a whole bunch of suggestions by now... Might be too early in the morning, lol!!

 

Get a 12 point socket that is just a little too small. Put an extension that you dont care about and BAM BAM BAM hammer it on there. If you did not overtighten last time it will probably come right off. Then put the socket in a vise and knock the lug nut out with a screwdriver or if you have any,, a chisel...

Go to your local dealer. They should have a generic key that fits the locks on all toyotas.

 

Called Toyota... Was given the run around then told that it would cost me bout 100.00. Called American tire they'll do it for 45.00. WTF!!

Don't ever loose your key...

 

go to walmart and go to the section where you buy those security lug nuts and there is one that is a universal for taking those off. i lost my key once before too and went to walmart bought that socket for like 10 bucks and was good to go.

 

If you can buy a universal at wal-mart, then what use it to have locks?

 

Yeah, really. Does walmart really have these?

 

My son did the socket method and it worked very well. He just went and bought a cheap socket for each lug because he didn't want to mess around with trying to get the lug nut out of the socket.

 

jet a cheapo socket and some jb weld, it will stay on there nice and nice, then twist, then toss

 

yes i bought one for my old car, it was a dodge neon and it had those stupid security lug nuts on it. i lost the key and had to go buy that socket. it might not be universal it might be a similar key to the type of security lug nuts you have. although i think it was universal, anyways it worked for mine. i think my dad had to hammer it on there but he got them off. and im not too sure that them crooks are smart enough to go look for one of those sockets, even you guys didnt know about it. But who knows. I got mine in Canada probably not a difference. We also have a Canadian Tire and they probably sell it too.

 

i got my old ones off with a angle grinder and a impact wrench

True, but there are locks on our doors. How hard is it to break a window? The point being, you don't want to make it easy.

 

You live in Cerritos... Go to Harbor Freight Pick up and EMERGENCY WHEEL LOCK REMOVAL KIT, Or go to Sears and get it. go to a "hole in the wall" type place My friend says it cost him a 20 when he went.

 

I'm the kind of guy that would rather them to just take the damn thing, rather than F my ride up in the process. On the contrary, I have a very sensitive alarm that will alert me (hopefully) to anyone screwing with the truck. In this case, I walk out my front door, aka the shooting gallery, and have at it with the scum bag(s).
