Looks like I might have a little leakage on the left side but I'll have to climb under there again and see in the daylight.

But there is definitely something going on with the drive shaft. Is this normal?

This is normal, actually. It's just grease breaking down and dribbling out of the carrier bearing. If you look at the bottom of that carrier bearing, you'll see that there is a drainage hole in it. You can sort of even see it in the picture. So that unit is not "fluid filled" & it's not leaking oil. Just grease being broken down by heat, and some weeping out from that bushing that's not really a seal.

I do have my suspicions that these are still responsible for some drive line vibes that were also an issue on the 2nd gens though, but that's an entirely different can of worms.

I bet as others have mentioned, this recall will be significantly expanded. Especially with non Vin listed trucks going to dealers for leaking and weeping fluid

No recalls for mine under Toyota owner's site or the recall search link. Do we know if its specific packages/trim levels?

In a camry rental, service advisor mentioned at this time they dont know if its the gasket or housing defect or bolts which is causing the issue so the rep from Toyota is going to inspect it to see what needs to be done to fix it I guess

Just had another dealership take a look, "Yeah, you're the second one we've seen." Imagine that... now, the only issue is that my previous dealership noted this as not having the issue, so they have to get Toyota to get my VIN back listed as needing repair.

Just got to the dealer for my 25 K check and recall. The service writer's words; "we're having to replace most of them". We'll see. Mine seems dry.

So, they have a fix and it's complete replacement? When I had mine confirmed yesterday, they still did not have the official repair from Toyota yet.

Any one have any news if Toyota has a fix yet?

Mine was clean. They re- torqued and said all is good. I don't think they have a fix yet. Work Order says "Vehicle Held".

so, no leak found. then a leak was found. then no leak found. then they held your vehicle? why does this seem like 2+2=5?

The first 2 lines are the definition of the recall. The third is the resolution of this particular vehicle. (Notice the two little dots before the first two lines.)

As some one who works in the school system I need to say

    Wrong.jpg

The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live. Taken from http://www.corestandards.org/about-the-standards/

That being said, Math is taught differently now, its more about teaching students how to manipulate the numbers and the many ways one can solve a math problem. Stuff I was being taught back in the 80's and 90's on the math team. The real issues is, because its different them what most of us learned, parents don't understand it and therefore it must be stupid.
