OK cool. Thanks for the responses. At least now I know that I can take the frames off, as that was my main concern. I'll just get a weekend day when I have the day to do them up and I'll sand them down and repaint. Any certain paint or prep that works best?

I honestly have no interest in starting any drama over it. I talked to Jake, he wasn't willing to help, so it is what it is. I'm not sure how common this issue is. Maybe I got a bad batch, who knows. I can assure the rest of the truck looks perfect, so not sure how the lights could look so bad in under a year's time. But I just want it to look decent, at this point.

Well, you get what you pay for. This makes my decision for me to wait and save my money until I can afford rigids. Sorry Cali won't do anything for you op.

When you paint them, get some self etching primer. Paint doesn't stick to aluminum very well without that or an irridite dip. The primer is usually a green color.

Ok cool. Ya, I wasn't really sure how to prep them. I'm not much of a painter. Thanks for the tip.

Neither am I. Electrician by trade. I worked in a place where everything that was made of aluminum was sent out for a chromic acid irridite coating before it got painted.

I bought some pods off Amazon for $10 each, they did the same thing, I took off the plate, and bed lined it, just used the gasket it came with and no problems with moisture

To do it right, that front bezel needs to be removed and bead blasted. That corrosion needs to be totally removed and neutralized for it not to happen again. Blast it, spray with a good etching primer then a good paint. Trust me, you're gonna want to clean that really good. If you can't bead blast it, a wire wheel is next best thing.

Are pods typically powdercoated or just painted? The warranty does say powdercoated is excluded from the 2 year warranty.

And for those who are saying their rigids are doing the same. I would definitely be sending those back. You pay good money for Rigid quality and that lifetime warranty. I would try and take advantage of that. I have a 10in bar from Rigid and the only reason I paid up for it was because of the warranty.

Pretty sure I have some of that going on with mine. I just took them off as ditch lights and put them on my bedrack for rear facing lights. But I don't really care if they're scratched up, the rest of my truck is, they match better now.

All these lights come from overseas or at the very least majority of the components do. Can't expect them to last too long in pristine condition for the price you pay. They may have some great light output but the physical materials are usually subpar.

Not 100% applicable to all decently priced options, some of the stuff I've bought has been real great.

But for example I've got some of the original KB Voodoo bed rail caps that had the original textured powdercoat that peels off/is rather poor (has been since fixed by him using a different powdercoat company) and it is STILL light years ahead of what my $80 LED pods have become in a shorter time period

Ya i for sure will want to do that right, while they are off. I have a couple mini-vacations planned at my cabin. I might do it 1 of those weeks, so I can take my time and not need to use the truck.

Good thing I found this thread. I've got $270 in my cart now w/ the amber LED and brackets. You just saved me $270.
