Lifting Assistance

Okay so I'm new to this lifting thing, I've done some research on the differences between certain styles of lifting and the pros/cons of all options. Really i can't decide on what i want for a lift. My driving style is daily driver with weekend mudding. I don't do major off roading or crawling so i don't need something extreme or even a huge lift. I am looking for like a 2 inch lift on my truck with a good reliable suspension system. With a 2 inch lift would i need a diff drop? I don't do a lot of hauling/towing but in the summer i do some small hauling...nothing major. I don't mind a stiffer ride but don't want ride quality like a rally car or something. Some help please i'm a lost soul lol.

The actual need for a diff drop has been hashed out quite a bit on here. the general consensus for the average lift is "no". If 2" is all you are looking for. Get a set of Bilstein 5100 adjustible front shocks and a toytec aal for the rear. You will be good to go. Plus, both are pretty simple installs.

 

Oh, you WILL need to have it aligned after installing the billy's up front.

 

I figured i would need an alignment which works out for me cause i'm a tech at a dealer and we got a pretty good rack for me to align it on without having to pay someone to do it lol. I'm mainly a daily driver so yea anything that gives me a little lift; look and clearance is kool with me. How about front springs? I also want the truck to look leveled out instead of lower in front and higher in the rear

 

Take measurements now and see what the difference is. Go from there. If you arent off roading and want to go cheap. You can buy a "good" front spacer and aal kit for under $200. Not my recommendation but it is an option.

 

As far as springs go, if you use the Billy's you can keep your stock ones and they work fine or buy new ones. Up to you. No matter how you go, you may not get exactly the same height from front to back but no one will notice 1/4" here or there.

 

I'm not too worried if it's a little more lower in the front like a 1/4" but not so noticable lol. I've dealt with friends having spacers and they have told me to steer away from them. Something to do with them wearing unevenly and one side being lower then the other...dunno. I'm going to look into billys and an aal for the rear, could i put OME springs on the billys? What brand is good for an aal? I have also been looking at allpro sway bar endlinks and collars would these not be usable with a lift like 2"? Sorry for so many questions but i'd rather have all the knowledge versus half assing it and screwing myself in the end lol thanks for all the help badguybuster

Where in maine are you from?? I am in OOB.. I am ordering 5100s for the front of mine and got the TSB leafs in the rear.

 

I live in brunswick but work in sopo at Berlin Honda. I am really set on a 2" lift max with the truck leveled out. I am going to do 1500's with aal. What re the alca aal's like for people that have em? How much??

Yes, they are safe. I would guess that more than half the people on this forum run the 5100's. Including me. I off road quite a bit with no issues. Periodically you do need to check the retaining ring to make sure it is still seated properly. Whe I assembled mine (or stealership did) I put some locktite read around the ring to help it stay put. Seems to work so far.

 

Thats the route i'm going. i do a lot of dd driving with the summer off road adventuring so that'll work for me. billies and aal. is it a good idea to get the longer brake lines?
