    Not Tacoma news, but I just landed a little part time side gig as a tech for local oil analysis company. Pay sucks, but not doing it for the money. I get that not everyone is an oil nut like I am, but I love this 'job'. Seeing the results of these 'crazy' long oil change intervals and stuff is just fascinating for me.

    All oil is not created equal.

    the good knews is, you stayed on 4.88s and 33s! So you can buy a speedo gear to swap out the OEM one and with your gears, tires/tranny combo. It should put it back very close(unlike 5.29s and 35s..)

    I don't remember the correct one..BUT! I haz friends that have..

    @Squeaky Penguin @Digiratus Both have 4.88s but different trannies. They can give you the PN to the right one.

    Regear? How's that power feel?

    IIRC, its the 33 tooth gear, the highest tooth count available. I have a part number at home. It got me very close. 72 indicated for 70 gps.

    edit: Part number for the 33 tooth speedo gear is 33403-39415

    Just putting on larger tires changes your speed vs indicated.

    It was almost a decade ago.... but as I recall:

    Drilled through the bed at each mounting hole and used bolts, washers, lock washers, and nuts. You need a buddy to hold one wrench in the bed while you tighter from below.

    Lovin it. Engine sounds like sex. Alot more responsive. I then got carried away and went and bought new tires and an alignment. Shes ready. Just did my 100 mile break in. 400 to go and then i can really play

    Thanks for the part number. How hard to swap that out

    Hub to fender was 24" empty, full it's 23ish.

    I remember it being pretty easy. You just remove a small cover and slide out the old and slide in the new. Its right on the end of the output shaft on the t-case. Here is a pic.

    Pretty much only when I hunt. Went through a couple ditches to get some articulation and didn't rub. I may have to do some trimming eventually, but for now they fit perfectly fine.

    Haha I had the same thought with my 255, no rubbing on the road then took it off road once and it sounded terrible with all the stuff the tires were hitting. All good after some cutting and a nice big hammer.
