    Right on. I don't know if the computer does anything, I know on some vehicles it retards the timing when in 4wd low, but I'm not really sure about the taco.

    4wd computer doesn't do anything to the actual ecu itself on these trucks. I haven't had a 4wd computer in my 2009 for almost a year now. To add to that I've actually removed the front add motor as well as the wiring for that.

    Yea the tacoma is not all that complex or so I've figured out the last few years. I'd post a picture of the actual ecu if I hadn't taken a hammer to it right after removing it

    Haha yea it was reduced to dust. I even pulled the knob from the dash and replaced it with the blank piece from a prerunner
