I've got it in mine and I love it. The only downside is it's a manual trans and stop and go traffic sucks. I love driving a manual trans so it isn't that big of a deal to me.

the 6 speed is pretty nice - i just don't like the first gear on it as as soon as you are moving you need to change to second.

I agree. I know that when you need low gears there is n substitute ie. Hauling, hill climbing ect. But for everyday stop and go, not so much.

The standard option is not very popular here... Most of the tacomas are auto's... Even the dealer said that most people want automatics.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
I love my 6spd and would not consider an auto at all.According to my dealer when I asked them why there were not a lot more manuals in his inventory, he showed me the % of manuals vs. auto's., supposedly a Toyota stat. I believe it was 10% in my body style, which is the access cab. They seem to have figures for every model made and what part of the country ordered what.
I just think it makes the truck more versitile . I also like the low rpm at cruising speeds on the highway.
I do agree with archer, first is just a moving gear to get you underway. Great for towing .

When i was talking to a tech - he said the manual is far better then the automatic... he said he did not know why toyota did not offer the 4runner in standard... or even a diesel...
