When I first bought my 06 2 months ago it was only getting about 14 or 15 mpg, now it seems that the truck has adapted to my driving style and is getting better mpg, as far as plugs go,, the stealership wanted $8.00 a plug I went to Advance Auto and got the denso's for $3.00 a plug

8 DOLLARS A PLUG?! HOLYSH*T! that is insane!!
I think mine were just over 2 dollars at the dealership! You need to go back there and kick someone in the jimmy, seriously that's nuts.

    15 sounds about right.
I let mine get down to close to empty but before the light turned on and it took 17 gallons.

why does it suck gas and lose low end torque? I thought it was supposed to make it breath better, ie work less.

those tick marks on you fuel gauge are just for fun. 1/4 tank on the gauge is anyone's guess at the tank.

    frothy bubbles? dunno.

On possible explanation for frothy oil is the oil level being too high.. That causes the oil to rise to the crankshaft and the crankshaft will whip the oil causing the froth, with the extra friction against the crankshaft might hurt mpg slightly... The is oil milky looking?

The CAI allows more air, and colder air, into the engine so more fuel is needed to keep the mix ratio correct. The result should be increased HP but it seems something else is going on with your situation.

After a fill-up, I can go ~70 miles before the fuel gauge even starts to move from the 'superfull' position (no I do not top off, pump clicks = I'm done). When it gets down to 3/4, I've gone around 140 miles. What I'm saying is, although the tank is 21 gallons, the difference between each quarter-tank tickmark on the gauge is only about 3.5 gallons -- and there are about 3 gallons hidden at each end of the gauge (over the F and under the E).

what kinda gas are you running in it? My 09 4x4 DC with 3" lift and 33" tires on 17x9 rims seems picky about gas. Two weeks straight I put in the midgrade shell gas and i was getting just over 16mpg, then I put in the premium, didnt change my driving habits at all or anything else, and BAM I was getting over just 18mpg now.

Also bought my truck brand new, and changed the oil for the first time at about 3000 miles and I too noticed that my oil was all frothy when it was drained out. I remember thinking to myself "thats weird" I have changed my oil 3 times since then and I *think* everytime my oil has been frothy. I say think because i dont remember either because i thought it was normal for this truck after that first time or because it actually hasnt been frothy. Will definitely make a note of it the next time i change my oil though.

"The mpg thing really bugs me. I'm getting the mileage of a v8 with a v6, and I baby the throttle. I don't have a lift, or bigger tires... I hope it gets better."

Welcome to the club. If you have a manual trans, it does not get better. When gas gets over $5 a gallon, we will all be bummin for sure. I just try not to drive it anymore than absolutely necessary. It gets the best mileage sitting in the driveway.

Yup, 6 spd here. I drove it 250 miles today doing 80 into the wind and got 15mpg, after I thought I was doing great with the in town 17mpg I was for sure that I would get at least 19 highway now. WRONG. Damn this thing!!!

I drove from MD to NC and got 20.7. Combined tank while working in town and partial drive back was 19.2.

80 into the wind. Nuff said. Take a physics class. The more power you use the more fuel you will burn. Drive any vehicle like that and you will use more fuel than those that drive 65-70. You figure out a way around that and you will be able to write your salary with any auto maker.

Let us know how it works out for you.;)

You got me there... the way back with the wind pushing me I finally hit my 19mpg goal. So I guess I just need to pick and choose when and where I travel!

The topside of the fuel gauge moves faster than the last half on my '10 SR5 4x4. I checked my fuel consumption and it was 19.5, that's not running ac and mostly interstate. Only have 2500 miles.

I've got a scan gage and doing 55 mph today, it was bouncing between 22.5 and 24.3 mpg. Doing 80 is NEVER good for gas mileage

My 2007 DC pre-runner with the 4.0 v6 and auto got its best ever reading at 22.3 mpg. Needless to say I was not driving 80mph... Normal mileage on that truck composite was around 18 to 19 and once when I was running on I10 to Beaumont I was running over a hundred (I guess those people were in a hurry to get to work) so I ran right with 'em and of course that dropped my mileage down to under 13 mpg. If I tried that with the truck I now own I don't think I would get 9 mpg.

Now with this '09 access cab and std trans I am real lucky to get 17 mpg and that is driving at 65 steady-state with the cruise ctl on and no headwind. I was freakin out when I got this truck because I thought that a manual trans truck would get at least the same mileage if not a little better. Wrong! Plus so far I am not really showing any improvement in mpg as I get more miles like I did with the '07. Hopefully it will get a little better...I have 18000 on it now and it gets horrible gas mileage just like when it was new. The truck starts and runs good though with no other problems.

Just a tip: Frothy oil is known to occur when too much oil is present. The "bottom" oil is designed to sit in the bottom of the motor. Therefore, if too much was added, the crank will hit the oil, tossing it all over the place, aerating your oil and all the while increasing head gasket pressure. Thereby, causing your motor to work harder and lowering your MPG.
The ^^Above info is just for reference

Back on topic: :) The viscosity of your oil in your situation could cause bubbles just as well. I'd say switch it without further thought. <-- That's my $ .02.

Also, remember that aerated oil can weaken seals and gaskets rather quickly.
