Lol we'll see. I might pull the old stuff off, see if it squeals, swap the belt, and then see. I could have maybe glazed the belt too supposedly from what I read. Going to dive in Wednesday night hopefully.

Before all this crap I worked on finishing the mount for my paranoid panel.

It fits great! And the controls should clear the switches pretty well too. I hope. I also had to "beef up" the CB mount into the dash with an extra zip tie lol.

Also I think the cord for the CB external speaker being too short might have been a blessing in disguise. I got an extension and it lets me un plug the speaker from this location, so hopefully that means if I want to use the regular CB speaker again on a whim I can just unplug it here.

Test what kind of voltage you are getting across the battery w/ALT charging (truck running of course). --> Low voltage points to possible Battery issue.
Test what kind of voltage you are getting at the ALT terminal post. --> Low voltage points to possible Cable issue, Bad connection.
Take the ALT to (Advance, Napa, VatoZone, etc) get it tested for free. --> Verifies Bad or Good ALT.

Electrical resistance causes heat, Do you have a ground connected to a positive somewhere, or an exposed positive cable grounding out somewhere?

There has got to be a wire lead somewhere (if all above checks out fine) that is getting hot from all the amps being pushed by that ALT. (Assuming larger gauge since there has not been any smoke or burnt wire yet.)

So I disconnected all the new shit and re-tested. I also moved the position of the lead going to the alt because I thought that might be shorting against the alt body. Started it up and no squeal. So I started adding everything back along the way, and testing it after I added each thing. First tested the lead that ran from the post in the OEM fuse panel to the aux panel. No squeal. Hooked up the ground. Then added accessories. Still no squeal.

So I guess it was the connection to the alt? Seems so weird to happen all of a sudden like that.

    This is the final setup:

    FA0007A8-8294-40A3-8C73-7A36735E40AA_c5d9140b9c9064d7c055108e9f4017c2bedcfa19.jpg

So the aux panel functions the way I originally wanted it to, it goes through the ALT 120 AMP stock fuse to the aux panel. The whole ordeal has me a bit nervous so we'll see.

Anyway, got some other stuff done/prepped for upcoming mods. I used some of that leftover padding to line my cubbies. The less rattle the better.

    1B1A9ACC-EAEB-4A98-8FC9-C8E0D1ACB259_bef1129ecb914069c29257e279be5d971ce2102f.jpg

I also got all my new OTRATTW switches in as well. Stoked to get these in!

    B571DD16-3A0E-445F-91F9-903AF973EED6_3e4521eedb7dabb5c696eacfd3832b8914ae9adb.jpg

I got right to work and started cutting for the panel on the left. I also swapped my clutch start cancel button into the old locker location.

    D587BAB2-74F6-457A-83BE-0C8E04E7990C_4be1d818fa3d7ed1b474aacc400890c2a65570ac.jpg

Like a glove. Also had to cut this support a bit too.

So I had no idea the stock locker button had a bulb in it? Maybe mine's just been burnt out for years? This is great news though since it should hopefully make lighting up my switches easier.

I also found this wire in this section. It's not hot.

Could this be for that button the auto guys have?

Thanks man! Had an incredible time in Riviera Maya with my wife.

I also learned that a Poloma is my new favorite tequila drink.

But now that I'm back it's time to get ready to get J5 up and running again.

Got a huge missing piece in to let me do this. Regeard 5.29 front and rear diffs from ECGS with an arb front locker installed as well.

Going to install it next Saturday.

Also installed a safety mod, a Drake quick release fire extinguisher mount. It works great! Way better than sitting in the back pocket of the passenger seat.

It most definitely did. Though I was mad jelly of Moab! Awesome having you guys there to scout shit out and help Moab newbs like me. And yeah as far as the front locker goes, it just was most cost efficient this way. Plus the whole issue of me being down with my busted spiders will hopefully be less likely now that they are enclosed in a cage.

Started prepping for the diff install by installing the ARB CKSA-12 compressor. I needed to move two things, the cruise control module, and a plug labeled "engine igniter". I was able to re-use some holes/ welded nuts and had to drill some new ones too.

Here are the before and after views of the space I had. Ideally I'll eventually get a CKMA-12 and mount it differently when I remove the ABS. This will be used to actuate my front locker and an absolute emergency air source for airing up my tires if my CO2 runs out. Even if it can get me to 20psi I can take the truck some place hopefully and air up the rest of the way there. Would also be useful for motorcycle or bicycle tires.

After I got it mounted I installed the air line, solenoids and pressure switch.

I also installed and mounted two birthday gifts. My wife's college room mate got me this for my garage:

As well as a tent/shower mat, a life straw, and a bunch of camping cook ware. Super fucking stoked!

The trasharoos are pretty handy. I'm thinking about getting a second and using it as a hamper since my spare is inside my living quarters. Kind of hides the eye sore too haha. @alee891 and I found the pockets on the outside handy for dog toys and bowls.

Hey it was free lmao. If I didn't have CO2 already I would shell out the cash for something bigger now, but for now it will do the trick.

Yeah I've seen how handy it is for @Chux and definitely made me want one. Only downside to anything like that is that unless I'm on a trip I don't want to store anything on it for fear of theft, and also worried about it just getting stolen off the truck in general.

Another downside if you are in an area with bears it might be a PITA to take off and put back on all the time. I'm sure it's easier on the tire but it kinda sucks getting the buckles through the tailgate crack.

You still running ABS? Though that's not a bad idea, that's in the dash right?

Its disabled, still have the ABS lines still plumbed. Not really wanting to pull that whole mess. Yea its in the dash right above the blower motor.
