Yeah, weather looks perfect. I'll see what time I finish up today and consider the drive. I don't want to sit in the Chase U section ($25), but they raised the price on my old seats from $55* to $75 before fees. Kinda no bueno on that. I'm not sure how they expect to fill seats when they're raising prices.

    * $55 for TWO days, mind you.

Seems as NASCAR is infected with the same logic as most of the public transportation companies in the US. Complaining about ridership being down, raising the rates to make up the revenue difference then complaining about how they are getting less folks willing to ride the train.

It's pretty clear they raised the prices of the other seats to compensate for lower cost college student seating. It's just my opinion, but Lower Gadsden is literally the worst place to sit at Talladega. If I'm going cheap, Lower Talladega offers much better sight lines, but not worth $50 MORE that Gadsden. I sat in Lower Depalma (similar position to Lower Gadsden) at Daytona for my first race and I could hardly see anything. I've also sat in Lower Keech at Daytona (similar position to Lower Talladega), and it offered better views. I prefer to see the cars coming towards me, rather than going away. I sat at the top of Birmingham Tower for my first race at 'Dega (Fall '13). I'd ordered a cheaper ticket, but something messed up in processing, and to make it right, they upgraded my seat for the same price. It was like a $140 ticket, but I paid $85.

Good for Almirola, wild racing last 10 laps to the finish there, loved it.

I'll be at a wedding today so gonna miss the race. Boo. Looking forward to trying to follow along. Should be a great battle by Keselowski and DEJ, two of the best Talladega drivers going at it.

Wow. That was a clean segment 1. Beautiful day at the track! Stands look packed from the angles on the NASCAR drive sight. I'm going to stay tuned in via radio while doing yard work. Already told my wife we have to go in October, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Lots of stout race cars out there. 2, 17, 21, 14, 4 look tough. Fords are bringing it today.

Who's left? I think I counted 18 cars parked on the track.

Damn good race, sad for the 2, he is so dominant there. AJ looked like he drove over his head a little. Congrats on Jr. Getting his first win, he's a hard worker in this sport.

FAIL. Maybe if 1:64 cars didn't cost $9+ tax, and shirts weren't $25-$40, people might spend more money.

Fanatics To Change NASCAR Trackside Superstore Model

"amid declining merchandise sales linked in part to lower attendance this year, Fanatics is now looking at moving to more of a hybrid approach whereby it will tailor its efforts toward the intricacies of each track, which could include using everything from smaller tents to haulers and new brick-and-mortar stores in tracks."

I only buy from the independent tent vendors. $7-8 cash for a 1:64 (brand new) and they have deals on shirts and just other stuff fanatics does not. IMG_20170505_204042.jpg

Just ordered my tickets for the All-Star race. Open event: Two 20 lap and one ten lap segments (winners moves on to All-Star race), All-Star race is comprised of four 20-lap segments and a final 10 lap segment with only 10 cars on track based on multiple factors. $63 after all fees for me and the kiddo.
