My estimate would be about one in twenty that have a misalignment issue (don't ask how I know this). Yes they are assembled by machine but they are inspected by people. These alignment issues are not something that is easily missed. They are very obvious but the inspectors just decide to wave them through. The 4Runner which is still built in Japan is always perfect with no issues.

Sounds like I'm on a Chrysler, GM or Ford forum with these excuses.

The 5th gen 4Runner has Been in existence since 2009 (2010 model year). After 7+ Years everything on it should be perfect.

A lot of the bugs have been worked out on the 5th gen 4Runner and toyota keeps the same powertrain in their vehicles through the whole generation lifecycle which makes them extremely reliable and keeps the resale value high too.

I recalled when the 3rd gen highlander debuted in 2013 it had transmission issues and people disliked it just as much as the 3rd gen tacomas right now but 3 model years later sales are red hot for the highlander and dealerships in my area can't keep them on the lot. They actualled updated the powertrain in the 2017 model year Highlander with an 8 speed auto transmission and a new V6 which is odd for Toyota to replace the powertrain in the same generation but the SUV is extremely reliable now despite the transmission issues in the early model years.

I am fairly confident that Toyota will fix the issues these new Tacoma owners are having. I am just lucky I haven't experienced any of them with my 2017 and hope it stays that way,

I had it for 10 years and so was not worth much because it had over 150,000 miles on it. I never had any issues with the Frontier like I have on this Tacoma.

I don't know if I am the only one so far but I had a 2016 trd sport a year ago and only performed the trans reflash on that truck and it woke it up.the 17 trd sport I have now is just because I didn't like the color and I wanted a lighter colored truck and so far this truck hasn't given me any issues and my 16 was a year old exactly with over 12k on it and had no issues.so far so good.i also had a 2012 trd sport and loved that truck too.

I bought a Mexican made turd gen Dclb limited taco 12/29/15.
And dumped it 7/4/16 after 10,000 very irritating miles and many trips to the dealer.
I ordered '16 trd pro 4Runner to replace it after the 3rd trip with the lemon to the dealership in 2 short months.
The 4Runner has 23,000 miles now and I haven't had a single issue.
Goes to show the quality difference between Mexico and Japan.
Not to mention Toyota dropped the ball
    With the 3.5 turd motor

It has to be a rare low production Ferrari or a classic 1960s corvette in order for an automobile to appreciate in value.

Mainstream mass produced vehicles are almost guaranteed to lose value because so many of them are made. I know my truck isn't an investment. It's an expense.

Funny you would say that considering that the 2013 highlander has the same shitty 3.5 as the turd gen Tacoma lol

Damn!! And things were going so well today here on TW So much love and respect was taking place:rofl:
I do agree that the thing I truly miss is the build quality of JDM built Toyota cars and trucks. Haven't really researched, but how many Toyota's are made over Japan?? 3 or 4?

Only about 3-4 Toyota models are still made in Japan right now.
The 4Runner, the 86, corolla IM, and the land cruiser. Basically the lower production models that sell under 100,000 units a year.
All Scion models were made in Japan because they were low production. My 2014 Scion tC was made in Japan and I didn't have any powertrain issues with it but the sunroof did rattle and the engine idled rough on cold days but it didn't bother me too much.

When my lease was up I bought my 2017 Tacoma and haven't had any issues with it to the point I want to get rid of it. I do miss my 6 speed manual in my tC though.
