Could have been better if some crocs and great whites came in with the tide.

So you're gonna buy and build a low miles expo rig for ~$3500

@2015whitetaco Chris I'm not trying to shit on your idea, I'm all for it, just trying to give you a dose of realism. For reference I sold my 98 4Runner, stock except for wheels and tires, 205k miles for $4500. You want low miles they still go for 5-7k, stock, then you're talking about all the aftermarket stuff, cuz come on you're not going to keep it simple. How many times have you changed stuff on your truck, it's not gonna be any different. We can't control this disease we have haha. You're going to end up closer to 10k than you think, and unless that front bumper of yours is made of Gold I don't see how selling that and tires and a tent is gonna get you close. IMHO keep the truck!

    no
the wheels tires tent and bumpers will fund the initial purchase of a lower miles vehicle i will then turn it into an expo rig
as for the wheel plans for the expo rig i want to do things once on this truck I've gone through too many differant things i want to keep that to a minimum as much as possible I'm thinking for the expo rig white f5s aren't the way i want to go I'm thinking beadlocks will be the way i want to go

This is true and like Jimmy said if you want a low miles 4runner they go for $. Honestly though I would look in the 200k miles and 96-98 as they are less expensive and the basics are the same as the 99-02. A couple of lighting and creature comfort upgrades in the 99-02 but for a dedicated wheeler they aren't worth the extra cash. The 3.4 is awesome and goes beyond 200k easily, just need to keep basic maintenance and it will keep running.

It can be done cheap with some looking and luck. My 99 4runner is pretty much ready for the trails (lift, wheels/tires, rear bumper, front skid and RTT) and I have about $1500 total into it and that includes the vehicle cost. Granted I've been patient and found deals but there are a ton of decent 3rd gens out there.

If you're serious about getting a 4runner let me know, I can give advice and check any ads out. I'm assuming you would go 96-02 since they have the best drivetrain, suspension, aftermarket support and a ton out there. Don't get a 2nd gen like @Iggy... they are crap haha. At least the motor is. 1st gens are awesome but to get a decent one that isn't trashed you need to spend over 4K and it still has 200k miles on a reliable but weak 22re.

i know I'm not saying that selling this stuff is going to pay for the purchase of the truck completely and selling this stuff isn't going to pay for any aftermarket stuff just the purchase of the truck

the real reason is that my truck is 2 years old (still a baby i know) but it has almost 80k miles on it the majority of which were fully loaded so it is wearing things out a lot faster
i need a dedicated daily driver and a dedicated camping rig
also I can't just sell the truck as is because then I would be without a vehicle for a little bit

Again I'm not completely sure what i would get as a dedicated expo rig i might go 4runner i might go land cruiser i might go jeep :crapstorm: i might go taco idk I just know that i need dedicated rigs and really low miles is obvious everyone wants but it will be a dedicated expo rig so not to worried about it if it is stock and kept up like you said if kept up on maintenance it will last

Just a thought, send your f5s to OMF and them into beadlocks and powder any color you want..... if you stay Toyota that is.

I wonder if the Coast Guard could use your front bumper for one of their cutters, might want to see if they are interested ;)

Either way hope you figure out what makes you happy with the vehicle situation.
